Why take Metformin if not insulin resistant??

HI my doctor recently put me on metformin with my clomid. I do have PCOS but I am not insulin resistant I have had this confirmed twice now. I am not sure why I would be prescribe something such as met!! does anyone have expereince with this pill and if so could you offer some information to me??? thanks and ~~~~ spinkles of baby dust to us all~~~~~
