What are my chances of conceiving if i bd on Sunday at 11:00 pm but didnt ovulate till Wednesday. Well, i think it was wed. because my temp went up Thursday morning and its still up today. Actually, my opk is still showing very positive results. Why? its been like that since cd 14, cd16,17,18, and so on. I did a test this morning cd 21 and still positive. How long does the temp has to say up to know that you ovulated?

Nino, did you consider the fact that you may have PCOS? I know that women with PCOS often have +opk that stay possitive. Good luck to you :)

mommy2josh is right. PCOSers tend to have elevated luteinizing hormone level, which is the same hormone detected by the sticks. PCOSers are in a constent state of "surge" almost. However, I won't say this for all PCOSers, because I never got constant surge reading using my ClearBlue easy monitor, it always detected my LH surge late, around cd 17-20 sometimes. That is how I found out I had PCOS...late ovulation.

hey, linds. I have a question for you about PCOS: if you always ovulate late, (say cd19 or so) does that definitely mean you have PCOS? Or is late ovulation just one sign of PCOS?

linds99 - November 3

I think late ovulation is one sign...although from what I was reading, that is the only sign I have because all my blood levels are normal, each month I went through a cycle...no excess testosterone, no elevated estrogen, progesterone, normal estradiol, normal FSH, except the LH started creeping up with the clomid, even my glucose fasting levels were normal. But really, the only sign I had was later ovulation. The ultrasound confirmed the many follicles (17 on the left and 22 on the right my first cycle before clomid when I did diagnostics.) But, this is a metobolic issue that really can't be pinpointed you know...it is still being studying by REs at to why some women have this, although they know it starts when a female baby is forming in the uterus as a fetus, we are born like this. We just have to learn to live and manage it I guess.

hmmm. very interesting. Before Femara, I always ovulated on cd19 or so, and as you know, my luteal phase was always about 10 days so without charting, it looked like my cycles were a regular....the long follicular phase with the short luteal phase evened itself out. I've had blood tests and all my hormones are normal, too. And from my u/s, I do know that sometimes I have alot of little cysts on of my ovaries. The doc has mentioned on at least one occassion that one of my ovaries looked a little "diseased" but he wasn't sure. Anyhow, I am wondering if I, too, have PCOS. Ah, the human body----gotta love it!

Hey ginger, I saw you are scheduled for your second IUI next week, how many follicles do you have this time that they can see so far?

ginger6363 - November 3

Oh, I am not *really* scheduled just yet, I am estimating (maybe I shouldn't be so hasty!). I go in for my cd12 u/s tomorrow morning, so they should tell me then, and, if ready, officially schedule me for my IUI. Last time, I had one 18mm follicle with Femara on cd12, so I am hoping for at least one as big this time.

linds99 - November 3

I hope for you too! Lets shoot for a 20+mm one this time at trigger time!!

Sorry to hijack your thread, nino. They say that when you are charting elevated temps of eighteen days or more generally = pregnant.

Ginger, you may try investigating the PCOS issue further. Have you taken the glucose fasting test? Also, your low progesterone issue is the same issue a lot of PCOSers have, short luteal phase, because alot of PCOSers are overly estrogenized. However, since you mentioned that you also had endo before, that could also cause estrogenizing problems, too much, not enough progesterone.

thanks for all the good info, linds. I will look into it. man, there is so much to know when it comes to RE issues. <sigh>

nino-i just wanted to say that i kept getting + opk's and then the lines got darker than the control line and so i took a hpt and it was +. the doc said that the opk's pick up the hcg better than a hpt because it test lower levels and lh and hcg are practically the same thing. hcg trigger shot can be given to make you ovulate just like lh makes you ovulate. hcg tricks the opks and your body because it is almost identical to each other. so you may be pregnant and that may be y it is showing up like that. unfortunately with mine it was tubal so i had to terminate. if it keeps giving you +'s i would say to use a hpt and see if you get a +.you may be surprised. good luck
