Im a 22 year old women that had a healthy daughter two years ago without help. but i want to have more kids before i get my tubes tied when im 30. i know the risks of having multiples so this isnt a random unthought of choice. I want to take clomid or another fertility drug to have multiples. Can anyone tell me if a doctor will help me or if i need to get it online? any advice?

Are you having problems falling pregnant? And why do you plan opn having your tubes tied at 30? it's a bit drastic! You are only 22...how can you say you want that at 30? I just turned 30 and after thinking I would never try to have kids again here I am 8 years later desperate for another....you never know how you will feel down the line. A doctor will not help you if you do not have fertility problems...I have pcos and my doc still told me yesterday they want me to try for a few months KNOWING I have fertility issues... but they want to see if I can do it on my own 1st....
There isn't a garuntee of multiples on clomid..although the risk is 7-10% higher. You should expect some women bitching at you in this post though as I have read other posts about healthy women just wanting multiples and women who are having a hard enough time ttc baby #1 can get quite peeved because they would give anything to have the one healthy child you already had. Personally I don't have an oppinion as I believe if a woman wants to try to have more than one baby then it's her right as it is to have a preference on what sex you would prefer...but you really need to read as much as you can on these fertility drugs as there are a lot of side effects and risks including cancer and hyperstimulation of the ovary in which case you could lose your ovaries and won't need to get your tubes tied. I did however buy mine online but only because I was prescribed it the last time I was trying but I would never assume any random fertility drug was good for me because they are tailored to different fertility issues. So please research! Not only are multiple pregnancies more risky than singletons but with clomid there seems to be a higher rate of miscarriage...it does mess with your hormones and stays in your system for a while... I personally am terrified I will miscarry on it...Please don't hink any of what I wrote is judgemental as I am all for each womans need/urge for children...just prepare for some heated debates is all. Best of luck. Also if you do get it and so fall pregnant make sure you tell your doc you took it so they can keep an eye on you.

I just wanted to let you know that taking fertility meds unprescribed is very dangerous to both your heath and the baby(ies). I have twin girls.. so I know what having multiples entails and I find it so disheartening when I hear someone say " i want multiples" because #1 no matter how much you have "thought" about this choice you have no idea what it entails. #2 Wanting multiples is like not wanting the healthiest pregnancy for your child, it is sooo dangerous-- i was perfectly healthy- no issues and my water broke at 32 weeks and my girls spent 3+ weeks in the NICU. #3 Not having a doctor involved if just a dumb decision, you could ovulate several eggs and have higher order multiples.
Please call your doctor to discuss this or just be happy with what the good lord will give you.

Told ya ;) and also people may get pissed off because you have absolutely no fertility issues and you are coming onto a site for people with PROBLEMS GETTING PREGNANT... sorry....I'm realising this month didnt happen for me so I'm a bit touchy... go have A baby that you are capable of having and thank yourself lucky that you can!

aldorakitty~ Just wanted to share my story with you. My OB put me on clomid In Sept of 08. I conceived the second month on clomid. I am an ultrasound tech, so I was checking my follies and there were two the month we conceived. Well, one of the follies split and we ended up pregnant with identical twin girls and a boy. That's right, triplets. It was a very rough pregnancy and all of my babires are now in heaven. We lost them at six months along. It was very difficult and my heart still aches for my babies. My Dh and I are back on clomid, but seeing an RE now. He is carefully monitoring my cycle. I definitely do not want multiples again. I'm terrified actually. I was put on bedrest at 12 weeks, cerclage at 15 weeks, !7 P shots weekly in my bottom, tributiline pump in my thigh 24 hours a day at 17 weeks, and home monitored for contractions twice a day at home for 1 hour each time. They were all worth it, and I would do it again if there was a guarantee to have them here with me. Anyhow, be careful what you wish for. Your babies can be ripped away from you in a instant. I am praying for one healthy baby. I truly don't wish the heartache my DH and I have gone through upon anyone.

I agree. If you are capable of having a baby on your own you should. Your chances of multiples on Clomid don't increase that much anyway. Also Clomid isn't nearly as successful without the HcG trigger shot, so even if you order Clomid from somewhere online you usually can't get the trigger shot. No doctor will give you any type of fertility drug unless you have an observable problem or "unexplained infertility" (trying for a year or more). Even if you lie to a doctor a lot will only tell you to chart for a couple months and run some other tests before giving you medication.
