Trying Clomid with Fibroid Tumors

Hello everyone, I had a miscarriage in 2005 due to fibroid tumors destorting my uterus. I have 5 to 7 fibroids that only cause problems(heavy bleeding during menstral cycle) if I don't exercise and continue a diet especially made for women with fibroids. After three years of trying off and on, I decided to go to an infertility doctor. She wants me to try 100mg Clomid on CD 5-9. I start Nov. 1, 08. I am so afraid that the fibroids will cause another miscarriage. Has anyone experienced this?

I had a fibroid tumor the size of a grapefruit removed 2 1/2 years ago (abdominal myomectomy) but sadly I never got pregnant during that. Now since they did my surgery, the doctor reconstructed my uterus and said my hubby and I are good to try. so we have been ttc for almost 2 years already and nothing. So we finally started fertility drugs and IUI this month. Nothing was wrong with either of us, so this was the route we tried. Did your doctor say your fibroids were small enough to not remove? How is your bleeding with them now?

The last time I had my fibroids checked was April of this year and my doctor said they were the size of a lime. I have really heavy bleeding on days 2 and 3 of AF. What fertility drugs are you trying?

Hello everyone, I started my first dose of clomid 5-9 on November 1. I experienced symptoms such as hot flashes and headaches. I was taking it during the day for the first two days, then I read that it was better to take it at night to bypass some of the symptoms and it worked. I had a few hot flashes through the night but it wasnt bad at all. I had blood work done on the 3rd and 10th day of my cycle. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow November 12. I will come back and tell you my results of the blood work.

My appointment was actually yesterday November 13. My doctor said my blood work was normal. She said if I do not conceive on this cycle of clomid, I need to call on the first day of my menses to schedule a hysterosalpingogram(HSG) and a pelvis ultrasound. These test will determine the exact location of my fibroids and will also detect if the fibroids are causing blockage to my fallopian tubes. If they are blocked, we have discussed maybe having a myomectomy. On the third day of my next cycle I will have more blood work done.

Hello ladies. I have started my 2nd cycle for my IUI. today was actually IUI #2. I took clomid days 3-7 of my cycle, day 9 I got an injection of Menapur, day 13 I had my u/s to check the follicles, had 6 this time, and then that afternoon my HCG injection. Patiently waited today for my IUI. I came home to rest cause last month I had a bit of cramping, but I am feeling good.

Well ladies, I ovulated on CD19. I am now 6 days past O. Today i was suppose to see AF and she didnt show up, but I have read that when taking clomid, your AF can sometimes be delayed. If AF doesnt show by Dec 2, I will test. I also have been having some cramping off and on throughout this cycle. Anyway I will keep you posted.

But ever woman is different. I am still within my 2ww. Wishing you many blessings! keep me posted. I am also in the thread that says November IUI's. The girls there are all ont he same cycle as we are. Come join us.

Ladies AF showed up today but I must express that I dont feel sad at all. I actually feel relieved. My new Re stated on my second appointment that if I don't get pregnant this time around, that she would like to remove the fibroids. I really feel like I would be more comfortable trying again without fibroids. Since AF showed up this evening, I will call my RE first thing tomorrow morning(Nov 24) and schedule to have my HSG and pelvic US. On day CD3, I will have more blood work done. DH will also be getting a semen analysis. ↑

I had a 2.5 cm fibroid that did not cause any symptoms like heavy periods... But I had 4 miscarriages. I saw 4 doctors who said it was fine... but the 5th doctor did a hysteroscopy and said it was distorting my uterus. I had it removed Nov 2007 and I am now 17 wks pregnant. Many women with fibroids have babies, but it really depends on if it is distorting your uterus. Sounds like you know yours is.... The myomectomy is pretty brutal, but I'm confident you will be able to carry a baby once they are removed. One of my RE's put me on Clomid too and I don't know why! I ovulate fine and my periods are regular... it's just protocol for them. The clomid messed up my cycles so I only did it 2 months and stopped.

Jademaiden- Finally I have someone who can relate to me. The miscarriage I had in 2005 was because of fibroids destorting my uterus. Why do you say that the myomectomy is brutal? Did you have a vaginal or abdominal? How long after the procedure did you start trying again?

Denice35 - November 29

Ladies, I will be having a pelvic ultrasound and an HSG monday Dec. 1, 08. My RE advised me to take ibuprofen 1 hr before the procedure. Are there any other special instructions I should know about?
