Shatavari or Shatavara (good herbal remedy?)

A while ago I posted a question about herbal meds that may help t.t.c. Nobody replied so far as I last checked. the herb in the title of this question, was referred to me by an herbal practitioner. I haven't tried it and don't endorse it or dismiss it. I am just trying to find out more about it. Anyone else out there feel like Googling this &/or asking your alternative health practitioner? I doubt regular MDs know much about it. They usually are pretty ignorant about herbs. But this is a common and supposedly effective multi-use herb in many Eastern countries. Hope others can offer their input &/or experience with it. Thanks.

Nobody responded to this post, but I wanted to give an update and ask people again if they want to talk about Shatavari, or any other herbal remedies, like Evening Primrose, Red Raspberry, etc. FYI I did find Shatavari capsules in Whole Foods. Will write again with any notable news regarding it.

I absolutely want to use natural methods to regulate my cycle and increase my conception chances. I've looked quite a bit online and haven't found much that seems useful. I just googled Shatavari and I'm gonna pick some up today and see what it does. This is what I read: "SHATAVARI tones, cleanses, nourishes, and strenghtens the female reproductive organs and so is traditionnaly used for PMS, ammenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, menopause and pelvic inflammatory disease like endometriosis. It also supports deeper tissue and builds blood and so it helps to remove infertility, prepare the womb for conception, prevent miscarriage and acts as a post-partum tonic where it helps to increase lactation and normalize the uterus and the changing hormones." From store.naturalnirvana.com/tahesh.html
I'll make sure to post an update after taking it for a bit, and you do the same! Thanks for posting.

Hi Becca, we probably found similar results when searching online. I ended up buying the Shatavari capsules in Whole Foods. I didn't check which place to buy it is cheaper. It seems like a hard herb to find so online is a good alternative. I do trust my friend who recommended it, since she went to school for alternative medicine. I just wish my GYN had more knowledge of it. Let's keep each other updated if it seems to be helping us!

Emiliz: I took the herb for two cycles. The first one I just felt different and my cycle was much shorter than regular (a good thing), and my second cycle af never arrived. I tested positive on Wednesday!!! I'm going to keep taking it throughout my pregnancy; it seems to be a wonder worker! Thanks for posting this. What has your experience been?

This post is too old but I think only you ladies can help me with this as you have already tried Shatavari.
BeccaBaby1: Did you try Shatavari all your pregnancy, what did you find was it safe and useful.
My story is sad but I want to share it so that somebody will get benefitted, I had tried Shatavari for 8 weeks of my pregnancy and there was excess lead in my blood so my doctor asked me to stop all herbs i was taking and I stopped shatari and the babies heart beat stopped and my body became cool. How long during the pregnancy i can continue taking Shatavari and when should i stop it. I will be very pleased if one you replies. Thanks from my heart.
