hi, i had an HSG on the 25 Feb and I had been all through the internet and terrified myself. I took painkillers half an hour before i went. When I got to the x-ray room I was in tears. I felt the speculum which made it worse but that was all couldn't belive it when the doctor told me I was done. Felt really stupid for being so upset! I know everyone is different but don't get worked up about an HSG, I had no pain at all. Brilliant news was that my tubes are great. Been trying for about 2 years, and my husband sperm count is very slightly low but not enough to cause a problem. I ovulate great apparently at 46(not sure of the scale, lol)but still no baby! unexplained fertility - so annoying.

Baby dust to you all xx

The people at the office told me that it increases the chance of pregnancy for a small percentage of women because it flushes out everything. I had an HSG yesterday... It makes you feel crampy and crappy... The meds that they gave me to avoid infection has horrible side effects. I'm hoping that the procedure did clear out some things... I will post as soon as I know something.

I HAD AN HSG TEST ABOUT 2WEEKS AGO AND AND 2 DAYS AFTER I HAD MY PERIOD SO IM WAITING TO SEE HOW THIS WILL TURN OUT BECAUSE EVERYONE SAY THAT AFTER THE HSG TEST YOU INCREASE THE CHANCE'S OF GETTING PREGNANT..

My husband and I lost our son two months ago today. I was almost 20 wks was diagnosed with incompetent cervix but the thought my uterus may be shaped abnormally so I just had an HSG on 5/10. We started ttc again this week. This board has really given me hope that we will be able to get pregnant again soon. we had been ttc for 2 yrs before we got preg last time. I pray it works. ***Baby dust to everyone****

Hi 'hopin4ababy'. I hope you've been successful getting pregnant. If not I hope you have decided to go to your doctor and getting a little help. I had my first child when I was 35 naturally. A year after we started trying for no.2 and couldn't get pregnant. Two years later a couple of friends suggested fertility treatment. I said, "I'm not infertile. I've had a child - no difficulties, I am very fit, we eat well - almost all organic - not much sugar, etc. etc. I cannot be infertile" denial, denial - 3.5 years later decided to get help. One cycle of clomid didn't work but dr. said she didn't think it would as my cycles are very regular and my eggs are slightly low, so we said skip another clomid cycle. Start FSH injections. I got pregnant first try but miscarried at 5 weeks - blighted ovum. Very sad but at least I knew I could actually get pregnant. Now it is six months since the miscarriage, we've moved states with my husband's work and finally settled in, found another dr. who suggested HSG, which the first doctor never did. Tried to conceive after HSG and FSH treatment as soon as my next period starts - mind you I will be 40 this year, so if I had swallowed my pride a couple of years ago we would probably have had a baby by now, and a little brother or sister for my now 4.5year old son. Good luck, hope things are moving along and if you haven't gone to a doctor I would recommend just going. It is an emotional experience but I think these forums help. I'm thinking of having counselling as I am still not 100% ok about having fertility treatment.

I have been TTC for a year now with my fiance. I am 31 and have a 5yr old son from a previous marriage which I got pregnant naturally. After talking to my doctor about it for months and still not pregnant, she decided for me to do an HSG. I had my HSG done on August 12th. It was a bit painful when the dye went through the right tube, but when the Dr. found blockage in my left tube, that's when it hurt the most to push the dye through the blockage which was successful. I didn't have any cramping or pain afterwards since I had taken some IBuprofen before. I have read several postings where some women have gone through the HSG procedure and got pregnant immediately and some after one or two cycles after. I am hoping that I am within the one or two cycles after...baby dust, lots and lots!!!

Hi,
I had the HSG done on 9/21. It was very bad! I Took pain killers before, didn't seem to do anything. The worst part was when they injected the fluid. I was crying out loud :( Thanks god, only lasted for 30 seconds. It was 100 times worse than my worst cramps. I had very minimal spotting on the day of, nothing since.S o the radiologist said the tubes are open. yay! Yesterday my ob-gyn called with the final result and she said my left tube is open but swollen, the right one is perfect. It Might be from scaring or endometriotis. A surgery would tell for sure. I do not want to do a surgery yet and she agreed. She said let's see after the hsg with the clomid how I'm doing and maybe think about the surgery again in 3-4 months.
I've been on 50 mg Clomid for 3 months now. It seems to do it's job, I'm ovulating, my HCG is around 30+ every time.
I'm reading here that many women after HSG had a very painful period.
oh, i forgot to tell you that I am 36, trying for 1st baby.

There is hope ladies. We tried to get pregnant for 3 years. I started going to a fertility clinic, had the HSG test done, and got pregnant that month. I was in complete shock. I am now 17 weeks along. The test itself was terrible...and caused the worst cramps I have experienced. They were so painful it made me lightheaded. But, the pain was well worth it! Good luck to all.

I was on this forum a few years ago from 2005-2006 by the name of "nila" and it was a difficult experience I ever been thru(infertility) but with the info and inspiration I received from women in the same boat as me on this forum was very uplifting. We would speak abt our HSG testing, results, and hopes for a baby-bump. My daughter is now 3 going on 4yrs old Dec 23, and it was amazing how I bought her home on Christmas day. As I view this forum 4years later, it just bought back so many memories. I wish u ladies luck with TTC. It will happen with Love, Support and Faith :-)
