Merlee--I stopped charting back in May. :( I had periods regularly for six months, and I was taking Met. Then I decided to stop taking it for reasons thinking it would hurt baby. When
I it came time to ovulate and I never did, I just got discouraged and stopped. I know shame on me. I had some spotting for a couple of days in May, which I never accounted for other than that. But I guess it could have been a period. Since the end of June
I have been having symptoms like the onset of a period that will never come. I have no clue. Thanks for the apology but you didn't squash my hopes. I personally think it is probably just my screwed up system. I know there are people out there where home preg test never show it, but I doubt that is the case for me. I just want something to happen!!! LOL I am tired of feeling this way!

Staci - how long were you on Met the first time?, how long were you off of it? and when did you start it again? Did you lose all the 30 lbs that you had gained before you started? How long were you on met before you had AF? I have an appt. with a new gyn on 7/27 and I want to discuss me getting on Metformin. I have some weight to lose (no matter what I do), and I am hoping he will be open to the idea that it could help with conception in my case. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I have heard really good things about met (except the side effects). I know I am insulin resistant but I have AF every month right on time (very scanty, though). I am taking some herbs to help also and if nothing else, they have stopped me from gaining weight uncontrollably. Thanks for any info.

Hi Ladies:

I was DX PCOS about a year ago, and we confirmed through p4 testing that I was not ovulating. I started ovulating after about 2 months after starting metformin. After 6 months of trying we founf out we had male factor too - so on to IVF. I am now 9 weeks preggo and all looks great. My RE said metformin works very well to help PCOS women get back into cycles, but it is really important for us especially not to smoke.
