Hi.We've been TTC for about a year and I'm turning 33 next month. We saw a Gynae and he said some months I ovulate and other months I do not.I am irregular and he said I need to decide wether I want to go for surgery - Laparoscopy - to find out if my tubes are blocked or start Clomid.Has anyone had to make this decision and what experiences have you had with laparoscopy ?Thanks

Hi!! I've had three laps done and a myomectomy (removal of fibroids) by a laparoscopy. My doctor actually never gave me a choice. He did the laps to find out what was going on and then after my last surgery, he put me on Clomid. He wants to try and get me in for an HSG test to check if my tubes are blocked. It's a hard decision to make. What do you feel? What are you the most comfortable with? Keep me posted!! Take care and best of luck.

I am quite anxious to get pregnant,so I don't really want to waste time going on a drug that won't work if there may be something wrong with my tubes.I am tending towards doing the lap.I have done all the relevant blood tests and they were fine. How long have you been on Clomid? Thanks.

Hi there! I have Endo and have had multiple lap surgeries done. We have also been trying to have a baby and have had multiple miscarriages, so my doctor actually did both, He did a Lap surgery last month while he was there checking everything he did the HSG to flush out my tubes (and they were blocked from teh endo) he cleared them out and strated me on clomid last month. Just got a positive pregnancy test. Honestly the surgery is very very minor. And as far as the clomid it is not that bad. I had very minimal symptoms mostly a few hot flashes, and a few cysts on my ovaries. I would talk to your doc about doing both, honestly it may help. Good luck to you!!

Schnauzi...based on my expeirence and my friend's experiences, I say get the labroscopy and ask them to do and HSG while they have you under. Then see what they find and after ask your doctor to put you on Clomid to get your ovulating regularly.

Do it now, don't wait.....it's better to know what is going on now rather then try for months with no luck and then end up back here again.

I just had a laparoscopy on 12/20 and was feeling fine by 12/24...a little ouchy where my stitches were, but that's it.

I wish you luck in trying!!! Keep us posted on what you decide and how it turns out.

Jenn

I would get the lap done. I didn't have too much discomfort with any of mine. The only thing I experienced was some swelling in my legs but, that was because I had to travel four hours to get home!! Otherwise, I was back at work within a couple of days. I would have to also agree with Jenn. Get the lap done, ask to have an HSG test and ask your doctor to prescribe you the Clomid. Your doctor should be able to tell you after you are out of recovery whether or not your tubes are blocked. At least, that is what my specialist told me after my procedures. I have been on Clomid for the last 5 months now. I am now taking 100mg/day for days 3-7 of my menstrual cycle. I haven't had any of the known side affects. I hope that this helps you. Keep us posted!! Take care.

I may be facing the same problem soon. I just did an HSG Tuesday and found out at least one of my tubes is blocked. Any chance of getting pregnant naturally with a blocked tube? I'm scheduled to see a RE in February.

Bionic_Chipmunk - January 18th, 2008 12:11 PM

Anguyen27, anything is possible!! From what I have read and researched on the internet, it is possible to conceive naturally when you have a tube blocked as long as you have a functioning ovary. I had a friend who had one of her tubes blocked from endometriosis and she was able to conceive naturally. It is definately a question for the RE that you are seeing. As I said, anything is possible. Good luck and keep us posted!! Take care.

Bionic_Chipmunk - thanks for the words of support! i hope you. i'm all new to this. dh and i have only been tring for about 8 months. on top of my blocked tubes, my fsh level is also slightly elevated (12-14) which really sucks. do you know anything elevated fsh levels and if it's poosible to get preggo with an elevated level? i know i'm ovulating - testing confirms that i am.

I can recommend a reputable pharmacy (Clomid) - 24tabs.org
I received the order and it was on time and the pills work great.
