I know in my case it is not. Some of the other things ( like counts) were. They also said that once we started the IUIs that they would stop covering u/s, meds, ect., but they still paid all that. My best advice is to contact your insurance and talk to your dr. They usually have all the answers. They can also tell you what they paid for other patients. That's how I knew they really wouldn't stop covering everything. Hope I helped and goodluck to you.

I have Pacificare (So. Calif.) and they cover 6 IUIs at 50% and injectible meds at 50%. I got Clomid at reg. perscription price ($20.00). At the clinic I go to, I end up paying $144.00 for the office visit, IUI, and sperm wash. I pay $66.00 for scans. My insurance does not pay for IVF, but will continue to pay for meds at the same rate. The fertility coverage is optional for employers in CA and many do not include this option. Hope that helps.

Mine pays 50% and I think there's a limit on how many attempts. Also, one thing I remember hearing a couple of years ago (and I have no idea where) was that there are a couple of big insurance companies that will deny you any coverage if you've ever undergone fertility treatments, like if you're applying for new insurance maybe? Seems like there were lots of "that happened to me" stories... I hate to even mention it without specifics but maybe someone will be interested....

Marymo, Fertility Lifelines will research your fertility benefits with your current provider. Google them and call Mon-Fri. They'll ask for your insurance info (group # etc) and call you back in a few dys with the research, which they'll also send by mail.
