I have been trying for 3 years to have a baby, My question I guess is can I still get pregnant if he only has one testicle (Spelling), I guess that is why his sperm count is low and I am afraid I will not ever have a baby. Is there still hope . Has anyone every went through this before???

Trisha - My husband had one undescended testes at birth which was corrected at 10 - apparently that is too late. After 2 years ttc we did tests - mine were fine but he had low count, low motility and low morphology. We were then referred to a fertility clinic who told us our only option for having children was IVF with ICSI (same as IVF but with sperm injected into eggs by doctors). It was pretty devastating to hear we couldn't conceive naturally. We tried IVF with ICSI (after 3 years of trying naturally without success) and thankfully it worked first-time and I'm now 29 weeks pregnant with a kicking baby. I thought I'd never have children too. If its just the count that's low you may be able to try IUI (sometimes people also conceive naturally with low count but after 3 years I'd go and see a specialist), which is a lot cheaper than ICSI with less drugs though success rates per attempt are much lower so you need more attempts (Our results were too bad for IUI or normal IVF). I think you should go to a fertility clinic and ask for their advice on what to do. You will get a baby though. I hope you get one naturally but it is worth going through fertility treatment if you can't.

Wow! I didn't think there was anyone else out there going through the exact same thing that my husband and I have been! It has been a little over 2 years of ttc for us and as Justine said all of my tests came back great and his were okay, but his count was on the low side of normal. We tried iuis for 6 months with no success, and after taking some time off to regroup we are heading towards ivf with the icsi. Hang in there Trisha! I completely know what you are going through. Justine, thank you sooo much for sharing your story it has given me hope that doing ivf is the right thing for us!

Jen - I hope the ICSI works first-time for you too. We were told as my results were normal, our chances were as good as its gets, which at my clinic was 30% per attempt. Thankfully it worked first-time. The treatment isn't nice but it is worth it - finally getting the positive pregnancy test, seeing your baby on an ultrasound and feeling it move are all magic and you forget the suffering. By the way there is a girl called Lisa going through ICSI at the moment under the heading IVF on this board too. Good luck. I think your chances with ICSI will be excellent too. I was 31 when I did it - 32 now and it was at a London hospital in the UK.

I had been trying to get pregnant for 1 year and six months without success. I went to the fertility specialist, but their prices were just too high for me ($3,000 US DOLLARS per month, no guarantees).

I decided to do some research and took the following herbs:
1. FEM RESTORE (herbs in liquid form. Dark brown bottle with green letters. Found in any good health food store). Nasty taste, but worth the suffering.
2. Crystal Start Female Harmony: 4 pills per day.
3. Deluxe Evening Primrose Oil: 4 pills per day.

I took these herbs for about 1 1/2 months. I started with the beginning of my period and took until the next periods (irregular periods). Then I took VITEX (another nasty tasting herb) just for a few weeks and now I am 2 months pregnant! I just saw my baby’s heartbeat yesterday. Please write me to [email protected] if you have any questions. I wish you the best of luck. Put a little of God on this mix too and you will have a winning bet.

My husband was born with one testicle. In the 3rd month of trying (naturally) I became pregnant. I am now 20 weeks pregnant. I wonder whether we were just really lucky but I have heard that many men like this can successfully reproduce. I wish you all good luck.
