I just want everyone to know how important it is to treat those pesky pituitary tumors that cause high prolactin levels! I have an endocrinologist who is very informative and even small tumors can interfere with vision and artery functions if they are not shrunk. Yes, Dostinex is the superior med and drug of choice - but it is expensive and insurance companies don't like it. It is worth paying the extra money for the superior results and hardly any side effects! There is no natural remedy for this. I don't like taking meds either ...but sometimes when you have a tumor - you need to be smart and take them.

HI Everyone,
If anyone is still checking this threas, I do agree that it is very important to take the medication prescribed. My prolactin levels went way down on Dostinex. I finally did get pregnant using donor sperm after everything we went thorugh including 3 failed IVF's. It seemed like first it was his oproblem, then mine, then his, then mine. Finally things worked out but I plan to keep on top of the high prolactic because it did turn out there was a tumor. Very small but it was there.

I did a prolactin blood test, and was diagnose with a reading of 198. This is due to inconsistency in taking my medication, dostinex. I tried taking bromocriptine several times before, but it did nothing for me. I all experience was some time symptoms, such nausea, dizziness, purging and more. There i decided to remain on dostinex, which works very well, causing me to have a regular cycle every month and no symptom. I am so glad i got the chance to read some of these messages and is able to relate better with my present experience.

Ive had high prolactin level for years and since i didnt have insurance didnt get treatment. Now im seing an endocronologist and gave me bromocriptine my level lowered to 70 from 78. Bromocriptine causes me nausea and dizziness. I had to stop taking it....my doctor told me that i have to get my kidney tested, do u think that that is another link to my high prolocatin?

It's so odd to me to see that levels should be under 20. I've had high levels since my teens (I just turned 35)...only at the time I didn't know because I didn't go to the doc but since I was 17 I would have a cycle one month and then not again for 3yrs.

I do remember not knowing what was happening or telling my mom, but when I was 14, I had what I now know was light lactation. I just thought that the spotting in my bra was part of breast development but was embarrassed to say anything so I would put paper towels in them.

I do have a pin point tumor on my pituitary gland. Since 2008, the LOWEST my levels have been is 49 and the highest has been 191...today it is 114.

Cabergoline wasn't a good fit for me as it weakened my teeth and 2 back molars broke so needless to say I stopped taking it a year ago and my teeth are back to being healthy.

I was taking Chasteberry only for it to give me a hormone surge and cause my face to break out heavily. I'm so frustrated and now for the past month I have been having pressure and pain on my ovaries with no known cause at this time. An ultrasound is scheduled for Oct 31st. :./

hi , i just had tests foe infertility investigations + the results show high levels of prolactin my levels were 207 im waiting to go back to my ob anyone know what he will do we have been ttc for 4yrs + i have been on clomid to no avail

masterharperavonly - October 8th, 2011 12:26 AM

I had a level of 75 and took Dostinex with Clomid and was able to conceive my daughter after 6 months, Those of you who have not been diagnosed with a pituitary tumor just curious how many of you had taken ortho tri cyclen lo as a birth control? All signs for me point to that being the starting point for my high levels. I have had them for 6 years 2 MRI's and no tumor, The dr told me she couldn't figure it out and there was no point in coming back. After I had DD levels went right back up and stayed up even after stopping breastfeeding. DD is now 2
