I was over 2 weeks late and my Dr, my regular OB had me come in for a Provera shot, and I am not nervous it will effect our infertility treatment, has this happened to anyone, we were going to start gonal-f injections this cycle but because of me not getting my period and having to get the Provera we are putting it off, I just don't know if it effects you? thank you Cheryl

I'm taking provera pills right now. I didn't know they had a shot also---I would have probably preferred that, since the pills are a 10-day prescription. This is my 2nd time having to use it. I'm not sure about the fertility treatments, but I think that the provera would be okay. It basically simulates the hormones that your body makes to tell your body that you're not preg. and to start AF. Once you finally do get AF, you are in a fresh cycle like new again. Did your OB give you any info about the fertility treatments and provera? Did they suggest that you wait on the gonal-f? Good luck!

Hi thank you, your last post was the reason I called about the Provera!! yes she gave me a choice of the shots one in each cheek very painful I would take the pills next time!! :-) but started flow yesterday 2 days after shots, she said it would be fine I am just nervous to spend all the money and have it not work because of the shot, also now that I didn't start when I was supposed to it works out that we would find out a positive or negative right before a mini vacation and I couldn't handle the vaca if it was negative, so just going to wait until we get back, thank you so much for your help, are you doing fertility tx right now or did you just have a baby?? best wishes

We're still trying for a baby after a m/c in March. I've had a rough time after the D&C. I had kidney stones in April, and it turned out that I had 7 total in both kidneys. So I had surgery on the left kidney in April, and then had to have surgery on the right in May. Then I had complications from that surgery and had to have another one the next day because some stone fragments were stuck. Let me tell you, labor should be a breeze compared to the pain with the kidney stones! Then, when I was finally good to go with ttc again, AF didn't come for 11 weeks after finally getting provera. I've had 2 regular cycles since then (they're long--38/43 days), but now I'm needing the provera again. I feel like if I could just at least get a chance to ttc, we'd be okay. Since the D&C in March, we've only been able to try 3 cycles, and one of them I probably didn't even "o"!!! I'm finding that my body really goes haywire with stress (the kidney stone surgeries in May, and a move/job search this time). I was recommended Vitex supplements, so I'm looking into that. I'll be starting charting this cycle also, so I'm hoping that all will work out for us this time around. Good luck to you also. Maybe your mini vacation will help you to keep your mind off all of the ttc, and you can test when you get back? Good luck again to you!

Oh---and I'm sorry the butt shots were painful! :-) At this point, I'd take it over the pills. The pills take 10 days, and then AF comes a few days after that--basically another two weeks total! Ugh. I'm on cd63 today.

Oh I am so sorry for all of that, it is amazing how your body reacts to stress, we have been ttc for over 2yrs now, we did 3 cycles with clomid and IUI's and none of them worked, so we took a break for a few months and were just about to start the injections, so now going to wait until Feb to start because of how my cycle was just messed up. I wish you the best, so sorry for you m/c god I can't even imagine what you are going through, and you are right I have heard it many times that passing stones are the worst pain ever!! take care, and good luck, keep me updated!!!

I can't imagine the stress of trying for two years. I was thinking the other day: ladies ttc are some of the strongest women out there. I truly believe that. DH and I went to BabiesRUs yesterday to look at baby gates (they come in handy to keep our pugs from getting into trouble), and it just made us want a baby even more. I know DH wants a baby, but he hadn't really talked about it much. It was nice to hear him say that it made him sad that we didn't have ours yet. I'm hoping to make a New Year's baby! Even though that sounds so far away, I thnk that's around when I'll "o" next. I hate long cycles! I hope you get to make your Valentine's Day baby! Or better yet, even before that. Good Luck to you again. Do you visit a regular thread on here? You are welcome to join us on the "best future moms" thread.
