Good morning. Karen, I am sorry you are having a bad day. I definitely can understand. On days like this (and I don't mean this bad), stay off the internet. I have found that when I am down, it helps. I have also noticed that not a lot of people on this site (regardless of the forum you are on) seem to have much opinion/response to the FSH thing. Bottom line is, we are older. So having slightly higher FSH is probably not unheard of. I have a friend at work who was at 14 and has been pregnant twice now. Unfortunately the first one ended at 14 wks due to a cord accident, but she is a month and a half away from her due date. She also did acupuncture. Anyway, what I am saying is, we have to get in a weigh the options of what to do, but ALL of our eggs are not bad. There is still hope and it will happen. We must believe that. I mean, we all knew that going into this in our late 30's would pose some potential problems, but that it CAN happen, so we need to remember that. Keep your stress level low, as low as possible, and keep trying. Don't stop trying, as my acupuncture person says. Eventually, it's gonna happen, and probably when you least expect or hope that it will. I also agree with Ann that IUI would be worth trying and is much less expensive, so you might look into that as well. Keep your head up and maybe see a movie tonight with DH. Get out of your head for a few hours. I'm doing the same thing.

Hi to all, I really feel for all of us struggling through our issues every day. Karen and Morrison, I know you from the m/c thread and I just posted to you there as well. My Day 10 FSH was 13. My head is spinning and I'm trying to hold out for a miracle. I feel like Karen that I always thought DH and I will have a biological child of our own. I still am holding out hope that we will. The RE mentioned PGD where they only implant the good embryos into you. That's of course if they find any. Since PDG is coupled with IVF, we are looking at $12,000 or more that we do not have. By the way, I just turned 34 in May, DH is 34 and I've had 3 consecutive m/c's. My RE says that all my blood tests are normal including the sonohysterogram and that the m/c's are probably a cause of poor embryos. It makes sense because the hb's were always on the low side. Ann, what is injectibles and what type of IVF will you have? I don't know how it helps with high FSH levels. I guess I do not understand IVF at all.

Thank you Ann for the explanation. I don't think that would work for us b/c my RE does not believe my husband's sperm is the problem just my eggs. I will ask him about it anyway. I also am going to ask him about acupuncture b/c i read it will lower FSH levels. Morrison thank you for the advice. Somedays when I am on the boards it does bring me down. However, i fell thirsty for information and can't stay off. It's like an obsession and I want to find out as much as possible. You are definitely right about the people not relating to FSH problems. I have searched other forums and no one at my age has the problem. My husband is actually coming home early so he always lifts my spirits. I am trying my hardest to stay positive. Welcome Kristine, I hear your stress. I relate with the money thing. it should not have to be this hard to have a baby. It comes so easily for other women it makes me wonder why it is so hard for us. Life is not fair. I count my blessings everynight and pray to St. Gerard. It's in God's hands and I believe it will work it's self out. Try to stay strong. I am taking Morrison's advice and just chilling out with my husband tonight.

Karen, I didn't mean to do the iui for sperm issues. I was just explaining what they do. With the injectibles, you may be able to produce say 3 eggs. There is a better chance that one of the three will be good as opposed to if you just produce one natural egg. You still have some good eggs up there most likely, so you can use the stimulation meds to release more eggs. Does that make sense? My dh has no issues whatsoever either. It is all me...Kristine, I have done two injectible cycles with iui. With the ivf cycle, I will do Follistim and Menopur for stimulation and Ganarelix to prevent a premature lh surge. Ivf is good for high fsh levels because they can get more eggs (so more chances) and they can tell how good the embro is by how it grows (number of cells and probably some other factors). I agree this is just not fair. I feel like my body is my enemy at this point!

THanks Ann for the explanation. I will ask my RE about it. He feels right now we need to try on our own and see what happens. All these procedures are so confusing and @ times I feel overwhelmed with all the information. I hope you guys are doing wel today. THe weather here is so nasty and depressing. I am really working on positive thinking.

Karen, where do you live?? It is hot here as usual (Texas)! I hope you feel better and relaxed after the weekend.

cromwell - June 13

I hope someone is still watching this thread. At Ann's advice, I made an appointment to go to an RE in July. In the meantime, I noticed my temp never spiked this month. Anyone have any info on this? I have been ovulating every month at around 13. Now I am at 18 and no spike. Very disheartening. I am 37 and had one m/c in Mar. We had just started trying in January so I felt that was positive, but now not so sure with all this FSH discussion. My GYN wasn't worried about evaluating me supposedly because I was able to get pregnant. Ann, I think your numbers are good. What does the Clomid do to FSH levels?? Tx Laurie

Ann1 - June 13

I am still popping in and out of the board but not really posting, since I am on hold. I am really glad you made an appt. It is better to get all the knowledge you can. Hopefully you are just fine! If you have fsh issues, the clomid will raise your fsh. That is why they do the clomid challenge test. Say, for example, you have your fsh tested and it is a 6 (fsh fluctuates each month). Then you take the clomid and it is a 12. Then you know that the 6 probably wasn't accurate, because your body couldn't keep your fsh low while taking clomid. Does that make sense? When is your appt?

cromwell - June 13

July 13. I am really nervous, especially since I didn't seem to ovulate this month. A lot of my friends keep saying, don't get caught up in this. Many, many women get pregnant who are older than you. One friend said yesterday that her doctor was telling her about various things that a Pap result could mean including "perimenopause--but you are a long way from that". Stress was a more likely culprit. I still feel like women didn't have FSH levels checked in the old days, so what data are we comparing here? I work in the science field, so I am not arguing probabilities. My other concern is cost, etc. Plus, if you start down this path, can you screw up any natural processes you had left? I hate writing at work, not so articulate.

Ann1 - June 13

Science was always my second favorite subject (math first)! To me, a long time ago hardly any women waited until their mid to late 30s to ttc, so who knows.?.? I think focusing on it a little too much is better than ignoring it and thinking everything is fine only to find out later (after your chances decrease even more) that something is wrong. Also, some people go through the fsh increases even younger than we are (early 30s) and some not until 40s, so we can go by someone else getting pg at a certain age.

Ann1 - June 13

Have you noticed any changes in your cycle length?

cromwell - June 15

Yes, my cycle length got shorter after I turned 30. I went from 28 to 26 days. I had a little (not the normal) spike in temp this morning finally, day 20 --of a 25 or 26 day cycle. I just can't believe my GYN would not do an evaluation obstenstibly because I had gotten pregnant so quickly, then reading here, Morrison1 has been able to conceive quickly but her FSH is higher too. Oh well, won't know anything until July. I was told a hundred times to stay off the internet! Laurie

Ann1 - June 15

I know what you mean about the internet. I think it would be a bad thing to use to gather all of your information. However, I think it is a good thing to gather information from it and use it to ask intelligent questions of your dr. My cycle has done almost the exact same thing but only in the past year or so. I used to be 28 on the dot, but now I am 26-30. Today I am at cd27 and no sign of af yet. My RE said cycle shortening is a sign that your pre-menopausal. That is such an evil word to me right now!! I don't temp, so what does the temp spike mean for you?

karen goode - June 15

Hi girls I am sorry I have not posted here in a awhile. My cycles seem to be changing as well. I used to be on a 28 day cycle then I went to 32 where I stayed for a year. Now my last period was on day 34. I don't think I ovulated this month either and I am scare b/c my FSH level is so high. I also found out yesterday I have another problem. I have a blood clotting disorder. ONce I get preg. I will be treated with heparin injections. I just started taking baby aspirin. I have always been able to conceive so easily and now I am afraid I won't be able to. Also, I have been cramping for the last few days. So I don't know it it's just a very early period beginning to start or that I am preg. and maybe miscarrying again. I am trying to be as positive as I can be.

cromwell - June 15

So Ann, is it good news no AF yet?? What are you currently doing? I will just have to see what the doctor says. Karen good luck also!

Ann1 - June 15

Karen, I hope you have a bfp on the way and this one holds on! How did you find out you have a clotting disorder? Laurie, I don't think my no af means anything except that she hasn't arrived yet. I Oed a little later than normal this cycle, and af really isn't due until tomorrow or Saturday. I am not currently doing anything except for waiting for my hysteroscopy surgery next week (then waiting 3 months for ivf). I hate being "on hold" and wondering if my fsh levels will skyrocket in the meantime.
