First time IUI success?

Well I went to the dr. this morning and had an u/s to see how my ovaries looked... they looked good. My dr. refuses to move to injectables just yet or upping my dosage of clomid to 100 mg rather than 75mg. He did decide to try me on 5mg of Femara this cycle on days 3-7. I go back next Friday for another u/s to check out my follicles. I pray that I do better on Femara than I did on clomid. Has anyone on here tried Femara with an IUI??

I read this entire link, and I am so glad I found others that I can relate to. I am over 40 and am on my 2nd month of 100mg clomid. I am 6dpiui, and hoping that this month is it! Because I am over 40, we are moving onto Follistim next month. I guess weight gain comes with the territory of taking these drugs. But did anybody think the Follistim was not as bad as the side effects of Clomid? Or same diff? I hate this 2ww, I try and think happy thoughts-like the names I like, how would I decorate the nursery..but I guess thats still stressing about it. Please let me know if anybody had success with their IUI's, I really do not want to jump to IVF.

Lucky13- Welcome to the forum! Goodluck and baby dust to you! :)

lucky13: welcome to the forum. This will be my 3rd IUI so if this does not work I am not certain what I would do as I cannot afford an IVF; so I am hoping this month is a charm. As for the weight gain, during the 2 weeks leading up to my IUI I try to get in as much exercise as I can to control my weight. I have been using Tamoxifen and now Clomid and cannot say that I had any effects from these drugs. Make certain you are taking your Folic Acid. Baby dust to you.

I am officially on round number 2....had u/s this morning, and I was cleared to start my meds tomorrow, taking clomid again, but will take 150 mg a day so I hopefully get a better response than the 100 mg I took last time. I won't go back until the 22nd for my first u/s to check follie size. I hope I get a better response from the meds this time...they didn't do a whole heck of a lot for me last time. lfisher2 I hope you have a successful round! The 2ww is the worst....I am so not looking forward to that again, but I am looking for ward to the possibility that it may just be the month! I hope it is for everyone else too! we all need some good news!

hi - i'm new to this thread and have to admit I haven't done a whole lot of research. A good friend of mine has gone through this and was my main source of information. I turned 40 recently and had a miscarriage almost a year ago. My fertility dr recommended I go directly to iui due to my age. I did 8 days of Follistim, a trigger shot of ovidrel and got inseminated yesterday. Today I started the crinone application and have experienced bad cramping. I've ben lucky and haven't experienced any cramping before so I got worried and decided it was time to do some of my own research. It seems like the cramping isn't uncommon. does it last the entire time? It's nice to know there are others out there experiencing the same thing.

Clueless- Welcome to the forum! Cramping is definitely a common thing. I had my first IUI in Feb. and the day that I had the procedure and the next day I cramped pretty bad. My body doesn't respond well to the ovidrel either and that usually causes me to cramp really bad. There is alot of information out there and it is alot to take in. I'm only 21 yrs old and I never dreamed that I would have this problem. After my husband and I were married and started trying for a baby, we realized something wasn't right. It is crazy how things happen, but I wish you the very best. Hopefully you will be getting some news in a couple of weeks :)

YellowMutt- Thank you! Hopefully this month will be a good month for us! I am on day 3 of Femara 5mg and my body seems to be doing okay with it. I'm not an emotional wreck like I was when I first started taking clomid, which is always a good thing. I guess when I go back the 19th we shall see how it is working. Hope everyone else is doing good! Baby dust to all!

I'm on day 2 of Clomid, and my goodness this time is really bad with the headaches! It's pretty much constant, pounding and I don't know how I'm gonna do this dosage for 3 more days...my brain hurts!

hi everyone! just had my beta test this am. i'm certain its a bfn b/c i took three hpts over the weekend. oh well. i guess i'm on to a third iui? i need to talk to the md to see if he recommends another one. pretty frustrating but i'm trying to keep perspective. baby dust to all of you!! good luck to everyone--spring is in the air, lets hope it brings extra fertility!!

CAI - March 16

Hi cdoc10, sorry to hear the results. I trust that you will go for IUI #3, same as me... I have been charting my cervical mucus, checking to make certain that I am ovulating. I hope for at least two follicles tomorrow. Keep in touch.

mssy419 - March 17

Hi All. Well, I had the dye test yesterday-Not very pleasant, I might add. I went in today for my u/s, and I have 6 follicles, but they aren't big enough yet! I was hoping to be inseminated tomorrow, but I think it will be more like Friday or Saturday. I know it's gonna happen, but I couldn't help but feel so disappointed. And of course, my husband doesn't get why i'm so upset. I'm just frustrated, and really anxious :(

cdoc10 - March 17

its officially, BFN. oh well, at least i got my period right away today and can get this phase over with! CAI---good luck today!! I am hoping for at least 2 follicles for you too! Good luck to everyone out there. Keep the faith and hang in there!!!

CAI - March 17

Hi ladies, I have two follicles each about 20 mm; I also did the trigger shot today and will have the IUI tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. Here's hoping for the best.

CAI - March 17

mssy419, congrats on your six follicles. Last time I did my scan at CD11 and had to re-scan at CD13 as they were small so I am sure that next time you scan they should be like 17 or 18 mm. Hang in there.

I am finally out of my clomid fog, I have been on the couch for days feeling like I was recovering from a bender! ug, I never want to take it at 150mg again. I didn't have the same side effects at 100mg. Oh well, hopefully it will be worth it, and I will have a better response this time, since it seemed to really being doing SOMETHING to me...lol. I will have my u/s on Monday morning to see where my follies are, and hopefully find out when I will have procedure #2! I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of you out there too! This is our month ladies!
