Does high sugar levels have anything to do with problems getting pregnant

I have type 1 and I'm a diabetes educator. As far as I know, high blood sugars do not keep you from getting pregnant. The main issue is high blood sugars can cause birth defects during the 1st 6 wks of pregnancy. Also, it can cause a large baby increasing chances of prematurity and difficult delivery so there's a higher possibity of having to have a c-section. :
