Damage to Uterus because of Fibroid

I had a myo for a uterine fibroid 3 years ago. I was 16 at the time. I just found out from my parents that the surgeon who performed the myo said the fibroid, because it was so big )about the size of a football) caused some damage to my uterus, and therefore I have a slight chance of infertility. I was just wondering if anyone out there has had this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm so upset about this because I really want children in the future.
