Cone Biopsy

Hi everyone. a few years ago i had a cone biopsy done to remove abnormal cells on my cervix incase they were cancerous. since then i have not had a regular period and am also having trouble getting pregnant. i talked to my OBGYN and he said that my cone biopsy shouldnt have anything to do with me not getting pregnant or not having a period but i was just on the internet with my mom looking up some information on cone biopsys and it said there is a rare chance that the cervix will tighten up after having a biopsy done causing periods to stop and also sperm not being able to pass thru. Now im not sure if this is my case or not because i do get slight spotting every couple months for a day or 2 so that should mean that things can pass thru my cervix. but after reading that it freaked me out a bit.

Brandi-Lynn. I had a cone biopsy and LEEP procedure done for dysplsia. I was always kind of regular prior to that. After the procedures my cycles got out of wack. I mean this is going back to November 2000. In May of 2001 I conceived my son. Now I have been ttc#2 for over 3 years. My OB, whom I love dearly said it in no way affects fertility, so since I got pg I guess its true. I believe my problems do not stem from the procedures. Dont worry too much about it. If you go for your annual pap smears, your doc most surely would have noticed the chages in your cervix. I wish you lots of luck. Try to think possitive. How long have you been ttc? If you feel so concerned, you should make an appointment with your doc. Babydust

Hi. we've been ttc for only about 6 months now. I have talked to my doctor about this already and he advised me that i would have trouble concieving on my own due to me not having a monthly period. i do get some bleeding 2 days a month but its not a heavy flow at all so i dont think i can consider it a period. My hubby and i would like to try and concieve naturally before going back to the doctor although he told me i will need his help. im also very low on my fsh hormone and estrogen. Im actually going to see a naturalpath doctor on friday to see if he can help me. ive heard he is amazing and has the babies to prove it so i have my fingers crossed. I'll try anything to help get my hormones and body back to "normal" and get pregnant. Baby Dust

Hmmmm. I feel ya. I wish you luck with the alternatice medicine doc. My OB/GYN and RE do not believe in them. I think that I may have PCOS, but my docs are sceptical, even though I meet most of the critiria. Where are you if you dont mind me asking. I am in New York City.

i know what you mean, i dont believe in those kinds of doctors either but im feeling desperate so i thought i would give it a shot. i figured i have nothing to lose and if it works, great and if not then i guess i'll be back at the doc trying treatments. Im in Alberta, Canada. My sister in law lives in california, we're hoping to go visit her in the next 2 months. i would love to go to New York for a vacation.

I guess it could work, but I think it has more to do with the possitive energy flow and less stress, then anything. Canada hah? I am often in Canada, but I mostly visit friends in Toronto. Good luck and let me know about your experince with Alt Med Doc. (((Hugs)))

Hi Mommy2josh, so i went to see the Alt. Doctor and he seemed pretty confident in being able to help me, although he gave me a few different things he wants me to take daily with a bunch of instructions haha. i would of perfered to just have 1 or 2 things and make it simple. so we will see in 3 months or so if its helping my hormones get back on track and get me ovulating. im just going to think positive and i'll keep you updated. Baby Dust!

Brandi-it could be that your hormones are out of whack. you may need 2 c a doc & hae your hormonr levels checked. if this is what it is it will be simple to fix.

mommy2josh - May 8

Brandi-Lynn, what kind of stuff? Herbs and supplements? U really hope that it works for you. ((((Hugs)))) Good luck and keep in touch.

mommy2josh - May 8

I meant to say I really hope it works for you. LOL.

Hey Slowpoke, i did have my hormone levels checked in september and they are all out of whack and a couple important ones are very low. My doc tried a few different prescriptions for me to try and induce a period and maintain my hormone levels and they didnt seem to work. i've also seen doctor after doctor for the last 5 years about this and the only one that had answers and was willing to try and fix it was this last doctor that i seen so i was very thankful for him. But my body is still out of whack and i still havnt had a period so i decided to try another choice by seeing this naturalpath doctor and see if that changes anything. fingers crossed. i will keep you all updated if i notice any changes. Baby Dust to all

oh and i forgot to add this LOL, it is herbs and supplements that he has me taking. primrose oil and flaxseed caps and also a few others that i cant even pronouce that are suppost to help with my ovaries and to help me ovulate. He also suggested for me to take vitex in a couple months.

mommy2josh - May 8

Brandi, I had a horrible experience with Vitex. I got my period and it lasted for 26 days. I would never recommend it, but there are plenty of women who sing it praise. Good luck.

Brandi-Lynn - May 8

Thanks for the feedback about vitex. I'm definately going to do more research on it before i decide to take it or not but its always nice to hear from woman that have used it.

mommy2josh - May 8

Brandi, my RE feels that there has never been any conclusive research to suggest that Vitex will affect your ovulation. He told me its a waste. If you decide to order, Puritan Pride has the best prices for vitamins and supplements. I love that site.

Thanks!
