Hi I am 35 and blessed with 2 kids. My last peregnecy was 9 years ago and since then we havent tried to get peregnent. We know we don't have much time and we love to have a set of twin boys. but the dr. said if i take clomid, the chances of having a girl would be increasd. I was wondering if any one has more info on this subject. or knows any other medication that doesn't increase the cahnce of having girls.

Your doctor may be inaccurate. Clomid does not increase your chances of having a girl. The truth is female sperm tend to live longer and swim slower than male sperm, while male sperm are slower and die faster. So actually, I have read countless times that assisted fertility treatments, timed ovulation with Clomid and inseminations more often than not result in boys, with ovulation closest to insem.

But it is also proven that contrary to old scientific belief that the fastest and healthiest sperm penetrates the egg, they are finding that the egg is the one that actually decides which sperm penetrates it...according to NOVA. Interesting huh...

I'm sorry I meant to say male sperm are faster but die quicker. Typo...

Thanks for info. Do you know how to pin point the ovalation time? I have heard if you get peregnent exactly when you ovolate, you could have a boy. But how
I use OPK and check the muces , still it is very hard to say exact time. Any other way to pin point it?

You are right, the closer to ovulation you have sex the more likely the faster swimmers will get there (the boys) than the girl swimmers. There is a book out there, I don't know how scientific it is since I said before science is finding now that the egg determines which sperm fertilizes it, that actually talks about what days to have sex for a boy. And I believe the book cites the day before or during ovulation. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is what I read. How I would pin point it is once you get a surge on your ovulation stick, know that 12-36 hours later you will likely ovulate. If you take your temps, sometimes you will get a surge temp dip about one day or two days before ovulation, and that is when you know ovulation is around the corner, but the sticks are better in predicting ovulation.

Oh, one more thing, I have read before that zinc is a prominent and vital component of healthy sperm and is needed to be consumed by your husband... and the more zinc that is consumed and evident in his sperm, the more male sperm he produces.

Both times I used Clomid I had girls...so I am not sure if there is any correlation, that is just my experience. Good Luck!

iwant8 Do you know the exact time you concived? Was it on your ferttile day or on your ovalation day? I hard that is very important. please let me know
I wonder what clomid is made out of that many women who take it have girls.

jonni i read on the net that if you bd the day of ovulation that your chances of a boy are higher, but like linds says there is no guarantee either way since science is proving that the egg decides on what sperm will fertilize it. good luck to you though.

jonni also my doc told me that clomid only raises the chances of having twins to like 10 or 12% which really arent high chances. good luck though

im on my fourth child which have all been concieved on clomid and guess what they r all girls even though i caught within the first 3 days this time its still another girl, is this cause i take clomid as i really thought it was a boy this time no sickness or anything where the other three it was all day every day, if i could gaureentee a boy i would go for the 5th but couldnt cope with 5 girls lol

Hi...I had 2 boys naturally many years ago.... Then I had boy/girl twins on clomid... Then I had another girl on clomid. I think what your doc is referring to is the negative effect clomid has on your cervical mucus.... And girl sperm are proven to be 'tougher skinned' if that makes sense. So yes it would make sense a girl is more likely but I had boy/girl so what can I say lol!
Because of the neg effects of clomid on cm and womb lining I used tamoxifen/novladex this month after several early mc likely caused by insufficient womb lining... And am 5wks pregnant first go :)

Oh and my last girl I DTD the eve after my positive opk &trigger so probably at the time of or just after ovulation and all science would say a boy.... But nope lol... Another girl... With the b/g twins it was the day of positive opk so day before ovulation but then I ovulated twice so could actually have been 2 days before the second egg.... Who knows lol

my husband and I used ttc herbal once, I’m pregnant! It’s so easy to use and I would highly recommend others try this product. We are thrilled on facebook: oduduwa ajakaye. C0040350D
