My husband has and unexplained "zero" sperm count. Therefore, after years of considering options, we decided together to use a sperm donor. At first it was hard to wrap my head around, but we really feel that it is a blessing that there are donors out there and technology is where it is. We really want a baby together.

whynotme, couldn't agree with you more on that.I know my body and sometimes i think I even imagine somethings.Hailie,we had been ttc for 6 months by Jan2006 and nothing had happened.had a hormonal analysis and my Prolactin was wayyyy high(very bad for conception).Been on meds to lower prolactin since Feb and just found outh this last week that it is now in the normal range. All other tests like HSG ,dh's SA normal. SO RE felt better to improve the chances by doing clomid and IUI since more egges, better chance.
what are the odds of concieving with first IUI?any info?

At the reproductive facility that I go to, their statistics for IUI's are 2.5 IUI's to conceive. So if I have already had 1, then my chances are pretty good that atleast the next 2 will work. I think that the national average is 12% chance of conception per IUI. It's actually a better percentage then conceiving the natural way.

great, so there is a high chance for you this cycle !! Its just the wait and watch thats frustrating.I wish I knew which cycle it would happen and then I would just have to wait until then but that would only happen in a fairy tale....ok,i am now dreaming.I wonder what the success rate is in the centre that I go to.and did clomid make you feel any different during the 2ww last month?and how old are you and Hailie. Is it only me in my age 31 having to deal with infertility or do I have company?

whynotme - June 28

I'm not far behind you at 29 years old. DH and I were just talking about how we would have loved to be young parents (meaning, not in our 40's, when the child would only be 10). Ya know what I mean. We just laughed about it! As for the clomid question, no I did not take clomid last IUI, so I don't know what the symptoms are during the 2WW. I am on day 6 clomid of 3-7 today. I have had on and off symptoms so far, like dizziness, and crazy off the wall dreams at night. Other then that, I don't have any cramping while my follies are growing (fingers crossed). Did you have cramping during the follicular phase??

Hi i am starting my third cycle, 150mg of clomid, my ultrasound is July 3 and hope to see lots of big eggs!! Good luck to everyone!!!

whynotme - June 28

(cspears) I am also scheduled for an u/s on July 3rd! What days are you taking clomid??

hailie - June 28

morning everyone...i'm 30 and have been trying for about 6months....but since my hubby and i both wanted to be young parents like whynotme, we opted for early testing (had to fudge some dates with my OB cause they wont let you see a fertility dr until you have been trying for at least a year) and found out dh had low motility. thats why we opted for iui. dh wants us to try ivf since with that the sperm is injected directly into the egg but i dont want to move that fast, since i dont want to lose hope if that doesnt work for us either. i'm in my second 2ww and some symptoms i feel are the same as pregnancy since i also got a trigger shot (which is essentially just hcg - pregnanc hormones)...cramping, sore boobies, nipples, nausea...not so much for my second cycle tho.

whynotme - June 28

Hallie, I think you are right about not wanting to move so fast to IVF. It's definitely alot more involved then with IUI's and clomid and not to metion the cost of it! YIKES! I never had to be referred to my RE. I just called my ob/gyn and asked who they would recommend. Where on your body do you administer the ovidrel injection?

cspears99 - June 28

whynotme, I took the clomid cd3-5 which ended for me yesterday? how about you

hailie - June 28

I injected myself about an inch below my belly button but off to one side...hubby filled the syringe wtiht he vial for me and got all the air out and i injected.

whynotme - June 28

I'm scared of not getting all of the air out. Can't that kill you?? YIKES...CSpears, I am taking days 3-7 and tomorrow is my last day.

Man girlies, I am having wicked s/e's today from the clomid. I have been very light headed all day long and very tired. DH and I are supposed to go to a new infertility support group tonight and I just don't think that I can do it. That stinks! I was really looking forward to going.

hailie - June 28

talking about side effects, i was crying at EVERYTHING! and hot flashes are extremely bad....but jus think, it's all about sacrifices when it comes to parenthood! whynotme, i would try to gather energy if possible to the support group...who knows, yo might happier after!

whynotme - June 29

hallie - I didn't end up going to the support group, but I will definitely try to make it to the next one. They meet every last tuesday of the month, but this month they had to do it on Wed.
s/e's are horrible today!!!! I am sooooo tired and having sharp shooting pains in my back and sides. Hopefully this is just my follies getting big and beautiful!! All I want to do is sleep right now! NOT WORK!

hailie - June 29

how sad are we? we don't like side effects when we have them and we freak out when we dont thinking its not working....haha
