42, elevated FSH, Provera/Clomid use...I want a baby so badl

Hi all! I am 42 and fear I may not be able to have another baby. I have 3 sons and had no problem conceiving them...but my youngest is 15 and my periods have been out of wack for the last 3 years.

I have periods about once every 3 months. The last time was on September 29 and it lasted for about 28 days! I had to be put on Provera to stop my period.

About 9 days ago I started another 7-day course of Provera to BRING ON my period so I can start Clomid again. (I was on a 50-mg dose for one cycle a year or so ago.)

My significant other and I want a baby together so badly. I am starting this all over again with the hopes that we will be able to conceive. I am fearful, though, as my FSH numbers have been all over the map and my gynecologist told me it would be very difficult to conceive. I was told I am not ovulating.

I'm not giving up yet, though, as I do still have periods...although not regular. So, until I'm in menopause I guess there is always a chance (even if it's a small chance).

My plan of action is to take 150 mg days 3-7 for two cycles along with using Provera if needed to bring on my period. If it doesn't result in a pregnancy, then I will return to my doctor and ask to be placed on Femara for a 2-month trial.

Are there another other ladies around my age out there trying to get pregnant?
