IS IT POSSIBLE TO BE PREGNANT AND STILL HAVE A NEG URINE AND BLOOD TEST?

Ok, if you have done a HPT (urine) and it was negative, you may still be pregnant. If you went to the doc. office and they drew a qualitative HCG level (blood), and it was negative, you are not pregnant.
***And for future reference...your HCG level (the hormone that trips the test, ie pregnancy hormone) normally doubles about every 48 hours in early pregnancy. The normal HPT will pick up at 50mIU/ml (which is about 14 DPO if you conceived). The early HPT can pick up at 25mIU/ml (which is about a week after conception). The blood test (qualitative HCG) will show very early, I've seen them show as early as 3 days after conception. **Keep in mind that the best time to test is with your first morning urine after a good nights rest, and try not to drink a lot before going to bed as this can dilute the urine and cause a false neg. early on. If you do get a positive HPT (yeah!) then call your doctor for an appointment ASAP. Most doc's do a qualitative HCG (blood) just to confirm, and they can also do a quantitative HCG which tells them how much HCG so they can tell how far you are. Note: most health dept.'s don't do the blood test, they only do another urine. And that's all that in a nutshell from an RN. Hope it helps!
