POF

SAD - August 5

I was just diagnosed with POF (Premature Ovarian Failure aka Premature Menopause) at 32!!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I am devasted. My husband and I had been trying for a few months to have a baby and now I find this out. I have no children and have never been pregnant and now the hope has been completely stripped from us! I got to a Reproductive Endocrinologist in a few days to discuss my "options" aka egg donor via IVF or adoption. Has anyone experienced this before or gone through egg donor IVF and how was your success with it? I am so confused and shocked so any direction would be greatly appreciated.

I highly recommend the book "The Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis. There is a whole chapter relating to "aging eggs" and the difference in the way the Western (or Modern) world and the Eastern (or Chinese) world looks at it and treats it. You might greatly benifit from it. You can do a search for it on amazon.com and there will be reviews you can read about it. Good luck!

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Attila Toth's book Fertile v. Infertile. He has researched the causes of infertility - miscarriages; unsuccessful attempts; secondary infertility; and has found it is often caused by bacterial infections. I know my POF at 32 right after my only baby was born almost 12 years ago that it was caused by infection. I have been "cleaned out" by Dr. Toth and have ovulated at least once in the last 4 months.
