For the people on injectibles and IUI, are you going to a endocrinologist or just your regular gynae? Also, how often are you begin monitored for your follicles?

Coll - October 4th, 2005 5:45 PM

Mel - I have been seeing a fertility specialist who is a RE. With my injectibles last month I was monitored about every 2 to 3 days after starting the injectibles so they would know how much I needed to take. She ended up actually increasing my dose about 7 days before ovulation and 5 days before I took my ovidrel. There are several different kinds of injectibles but my RE put me on Gonal F. It really did seem to help a lot. Hope that helps!

Mel, I went to a reproductive endocrinologist. I had a baseline ultrasound and blood work on day 4, did injectibles on days 6-11, and had another ultrasound and more bloodwork on day 12. From that, they determined that I would ovulate on day 13, so that's when we did the IUI.

Liz - October 4th, 2005 6:41 PM

Chrisyt and Amy R- I went this am for unltrasound and bloddwork . I have 4 large follies to work with this month. I have to go again tomorrow for blood again to determine when ovulation day will be and then the iui will be scheduled. This month i'm on 100 mg of Clomid for 5 days today is day 13 for me. Baby dust to all**************

Christy-I feel your pain. I am sick too and it is rough going through this when you're sick...that's for sure! By the way, I think my 2 pos. were from HCG in the 2nd half of my cycle. I did 3 after the trigger. Good luck with these next 2ww!! Colleen-Let us know when you get the blood test. I'm so excited for you!! Ijay, Lisa, Jeanne, Star and everyone else...lots of baby dust!! Kate and Mel-I'm so sorry to hear of your neg. test. Mel-everyone is different, but I see a repro. endo. who started me on clomid which didn't produce much...one month with no ovulation at all and one with a few small follicles. Last cycle, I did femara with injectibles. I had one very large foll. (~26) and a bunch of small ones. I had my baseline bloodwork today and I'll do injectibles days 3-13. I'll get monitered every 3rd day. Hope this helps. Good luck to everyone!! October will be a great month for us...I just know it!!

Christy-- I must have missed what you wrote, but just now read it, I'm sorry that you're sick on top of this. I thought about you yesterday for your IUI.... let us know how you're feeling!! Liz and Christy-- tell me a little more about HSG, my RE said if this IUI does not work then they will do HSG. From the sounds of it, it's not very comfortable. IUI's for me as it is are very painful as I hardly have a cervix... I can't imagine the pain with HSG, if it is painful for everyone. Where are you ladies from? Just curious, as we have bonded... we're in this together. I'm from Connecticut!! Baby dust to all!!!

Mel - October 5th, 2005 9:45 AM

AmyR, your doctor will probably tell you to take pain medication before your HSG. It is important you do so, so that the pain is not too much. Having said that, it was not bad for me at all. My uterus did contract when they injected the dye into me, and that hurt, but it subsided within a minute and I was fine after that. It all depends on how good the person doing the HSG on you is. It is well worth it though to know whether your tubes are open and then there is the added bonus of increased chance of pregnancy after the HSG. All the best. Thanks everybody for replying to my queries about RE and injectibles.

Liz - October 5th, 2005 10:18 AM

Amy R. - I definately reccomend taking 800 mg of Advil before the HSG as I had really bad cramping during the procedure. The Re performing the HSG said women who have bad AF cramps are prone to HSG cramping also. After the HSG I felt completely fine and didn't need any further pain meds. The test is very quick about 25 minutes. Nothing to worry about in advance! Blood test #2 this morning still in the determining stage of when the iui and HcG will be done....Baby Dust to all ******************************************

Mel none but I had my IUI done Sept 27 and 28 how do you feel? When do you test with Doc? I test on Oct 11. Let me know how you are doing??

Christy - October 5th, 2005 2:50 PM

Thank you all for the get well wishes. I'm feeling better and now only have a cough that sounds like an elephants mating call. hee hee. Beth, I'm sorry about your false positive. The emotional rollercoaster is terrible. However, we will all be happy campers when we finally get off. Liz, I'm so happy to hear you have lots of good follicles! For me I only had one this cycle. I had my IUI yesterday 10/4. Here I go again! i hope the third time is the charm. I told the front desk lady at the sperm lab that I liked her but hoped I didn't have to put her on my Christmas card list! Amy R, I'm from cincinnati, ohio. One of my friends I went to nursing school with moved to Conn. How is the weather there? Nice here but supposed to get colder tomorrow. My HSG wasn't that bad in fact I thought the endometrial biopsy was worse. I had mild cramping with the hsg but only for a moment or so. It was interesting to see the dye go through my tubes. My dr. gave me a big picture to take home. Why, I'm not sure but i now know what my ovaries and tubes look like! Looks like we are starting to see some positives finally. I sure hope I get to be one of them soon. BabyDust to everyone! Heck, I need a boat load! How long has everyone been ttc? It has been 2 1/2 yrs for me but since i have short cycles it's equivalent to 3 yrs of cycle tries. If that makes any sense... Good Luck, Good Luck, Good Luck to all.

Coll - October 5th, 2005 4:31 PM

Hi Everyone. Well after anxiously awaiting all day for the blood test results they just came back positive! I think I am literally in shock and can barely comprehend it. My husband is out of town, of all the luck, and has been stuck in a training class so I sent him a congratulations email telling him he was going to be a daddy! Fortunately he must have been near a computer because he immediately left his class and called. I just want to thank everyone so much for all of your nice thoughts and good luck. I know there are going to be so many more success stories soon and I can't wait to read them all. I go back on Friday for a second blood test just to make sure the HCG level is increasing but so far it is very high. I will certainly keep everyone informed and please do the same. Oh I live in Orlando FL. Thanks so much and BABY DUST TO EVERYONE!!!

Mel - October 5th, 2005 4:39 PM

CONGRATULATIONS Coll! That is wonderful news! I hope and pray that you have a wonderful nine months ahead of you! Tons of baby dust to everybody else on the rollercoaster!

Coll - October 5th, 2005 5:05 PM

Thank you and I will be thinking of you all on your upcoming 2WW. Absolutely hoping for the best!

Judi - October 5th, 2005 5:27 PM

Coll, congratulations!!! I had a feeling that you would have good news. This is wonderful! Do you know your due date yet?

Beth - October 5th, 2005 6:04 PM

Coll-Congratulations!! That is so absolutely fantastic!! The success stories are what allow me to press on through the hard times and still keep trying! Good Luck with your pregnancy and keep us posted! Amy-I'm from Baltimore and have some best friends in Hartford. Are you anywhere near there? My HSG was not as bad as people said it would be. If your tubes are not blocked, it should only be painful for 20-30 sec. It may be a little worse if your tubes are blocked. But I know lots of women who got pregnant the cycle after the HSG, so it's worth it! Good Luck and lots of baby dust to everyone!!

Vicki - October 5th, 2005 6:14 PM
