Hi Durante Baby. I am starting my 4th cycle of clomid today and I'm up to 150mg (cd 3-10). I don't know the specifics for all of your questions but I do know that with any fertility drug no matter the dosage you're increasing your chance for multiples. Under natural circumstances you only develop one mature follicle (then you ovulate). But on the drugs you sometimes develop more than one mature follicle. There is research that shows that the increased dosages of clomid thins the lining of the uterus so implantation may be harder. I'm taking a baby aspirin per day to help thicken the lining. Thank you Clong for your reply...I went today to pick up some baby aspirin today, andit would apear that where I am they do not sell it oc. Is a low dose womens aspirin okay? I am not sure the difference besides the dose.

durante baby: A low dose (81mg) aspirin is correct. Some other OTC things that I've started this cycle is guaiffenisin cough syrup and drinking green tea. The guaiffenisin is supposed to improve the quality of your cervical mucous (which is important for the sperm travel) and green tea is to help detoxify your body. Only take the cough syrup until you think you ovulate. These things were recommended to me by a friend who has gone through the same fertility difficulties as me. When is your u/s? Mine is Thurs 1/7. Come on follies!

Great! that is exactly what I bought. I just ordered some preseed online, I ear it works wonders. I will deffinatly look into the guaiffeisin.
I am no having a u/s apearently...Most likely beause, my insurance got bought out last July and no longer covers ANYTHING with infertility...Figures that would happen when I need it. My dr wants me to come see her in 3 months, hopefully pregnant. I really wish I would have one though, and I am highly considering just paying out of pocket for it....Since I am new to all this, I dont know when to start testing for O. What my dr tells me and everthing I read, there is no straight answer.....esecially since I only have induced periods, and even being induced they are irregular...any suggestions on when to start testing?

I think the best way to test for O is to buy the strips in bulk (20day supply). I start testing a day or so after my period ends. Sounds way early but I'm irregular too. Double check your insurance coverage b/c mine doesn't cover infertility issues either but they will cover diagnostics. The dr can diagnose you with anovulation then the u/s becomes more of a diagnostic test. It would be really good to have one just to see how you're responding to the clomid. So if you don't see your dr again for 3mos, did they give you refills on the clomid or how will they know if they need to increase your dosage?

Again great! because I did pick up 20 pack of answer test strips....My dr wants me to call her cd-18. If I havent ovulated yet...I am not 100% what she would want to do then. She did give me refils on the clomid. what does concern me is that, my periods are 100% induced by the progesterone. I take them every month on the 15-24th. I started ,my period on the 27th, which I usually start between days 6-9 of the progesterone. then I stated the clomid cd 2-6....So now I am concerned about when and if Ishould take my progesterone this month (january)...I dont know if any of that makes sence..lol..I dont want to start the progesterone if already pregnant, but when I am due to take it. It will be too soon to test for pregnancy, because I started everything later then i usual last month...hope that makes sence...I will have to call my dr on monday. I am just freaking out,I usually see her once or twice a month. this will be the longest I wont see her since I first got pregnant with my 2 year old....As for my insurance, I will check, but I have gone through hell over the past 2 years getting diagnosed. So i would think that process is long over....So how are you feelng on the clomid? I felt really sick yesterday morning. It was almost like a morning sickness feeling...I would have to asume that had to do with the clomid...My joints have been killing me, but that could just be from work...either way it isnt too bad yet. I am just worried about when I actually O because of my endo.

I don't think the progesterone will hurt anything if you start it as usual but definitely call your dr to put your mind at ease. The only thing i can think that your dr may do if you haven't O'ed by cd 18 is give you an HcG shot to cause O. I received an HcG injection last month on cd 11 after my u/s showed 3 good follies on each side. It's a better way to time ovulation (and sex). So we're doing everything exactly as last cycle since I responded so well. This is the last attempt before IUI. As for the clomid, fortunately I do really well on it minus a few night sweats and I'm on 150mg. Do you have fertility specialists where you live?

Well at least you do well on the clomid. I am not sure it my side effects are actually side effects or if I have some sort of flu. None of my symptoms really match up to what I have read. I am more in tune to my body then I ever have been. So every little thing I pay attention to.....yes we do have some fertility specialist here, but unfortunatly we don't have the best ones. I live in las vegas, NV so the good ones that are close are in california (of course), and utah....if they found 3 good follies on each side, doesn't that increase your chances of multiples? I started testing for ovulation today (cd-7) I know it is early but I don't want to risk missing my O since my periods are so irregular......do you have any gut instincts on how your u/s will go? I am excited for you! Maybe this will be your month. It is 2010 fresh start!

I'm trying not to have any preconceived ideas about my u/s. The last cycle went perfect so naturally I was pretty bummed when my period came. I hope to respond as well this time, but if not, IUI is the next consideration. Come on 2010 bring me luck (and you too)!

Hey!! Just wanted to pop in and tell you GOOD LUCK with your u/s tomorrow! I hope it goes well!

I am having a very hard time with the clomid. I have severe pain on my entire right side. It started yesterday, and is progressivly getting worse. I am walking with a limp. I am contemplating going to urgent care. I called my dr about a u/s and just missed their call back....grrr. now I probably won't hear back from them for another 3 days.

Anyways I will be thinking of you!! Be sure to let me know how is goes!

Hi. Are you feeling any better? You definitely want to have an u/s to make sure your ovaries aren't hyperstimulated. Let me know what you find out. My u/s was ok-one good follie (only takes one, but was hoping for more). I got an HcG injection to induce ovulation so you know what I'll be doing for the next few days...lol. Are you still testing O? Are you checking your temps? This is my 1st cycle checking my temps and checking my cervix (I know that's way personal). Apparently when you're cervix is low and stiff you're not close to ovulating. When it's high and hard to reach but feels mushy is supposed to be good. We'll see. Have you finished the clomid yet? Let me know what's going on with that.

Hey, glad to hear that you u/s went well. Sorry there weren't more follies, but you are right "one is all it takes"! Have you O'd yet?!? I completed my clomid cd-6 I am now on cd-14 and still no O. I'm a little depressed thought it would have happened by now. I ended up at the emergency room Friday morn. The pain got so bad, dh said I wasn't even making sense. I guess I was talking about cadbury eggs...hahaha...anyways, turns out I have a really bad bladder infection, and cysts all over my right ovary...the dr at the ER suspects I might possibly have PCOS as well. They did 3 different pelvic u/s and the drugs had kicked in enough to where I could watch and pay attention, and though I am not a dr or a u/s tech, and have NO I dea what to look for in that matter. I am hoping what I saw was two mature follies. But I have no clue what I would have been looking for so it was most likely the drugs making me feel like a dr. Haha....I do not take my temps. I tried but my temps were never near consistant enough for me to get accurate readings. As for my cervix. I tried that as well but...well I have a high cervix and short fingers so it was hard for me...sorry tmi. So how does the hcg shot work? When do they give it to you? I am just trying to figure out why my dr wouldn't offer me it.

Glad you're feeling better! I never know when I O, so I'm not sure. The HcG shot is supposed to make your ovaries release the egg(s) within 24-48hrs. They usually only give it when an u/s confirms mature follies. I got the shot on Wed but didn't get a pos OPK until yesterday. Weird. This is the 1st time I've checked temps and they've been pretty consistent and rising since Thurs. I've had some strange pains on the left side today (and that's the side the good follie was on) so hopefully I've O'ed. Today is cd 14 for me as well. Baby dust to us both!

well im cd 2 and thinking about doing a round of clomid 50mg cd3-7. I havent heard about guafennisin but ive heard of mucinex and preseed any info on either would be greatly appreciated

Hi Jayton. Mucinex is correct as long as it only contains guaifenisin not the cough suppressant. I found it to be cheaper to buy a generic cough med. Preseed, I don't know much about but have heard of others using it. Will this be your first cycle with clomid? Best wishes!
