Hi Carole. I took the HCG on Sat and IUI on Sun and Mon. I will start progesterone suppositories on Wed night - then 2/day. I test for progest levels on Mon 23rd then pg on the 30th. This is the same routine as I had last time - I got pg the 1st round. When did you inseminate? |

einfanti, thanks for sharing. I did not get inseminated. I have really long cycles so we never know when I ovulate. I also had a m/c in August. So this month we have been monitoring the dominant follicle, watching cm and doing opks. On sunday I got a + on my opk and the cm was ew and a lot of it. I went to see him for an u/s and my follicle measured 23.5. He was very pleased and gave me the injection on the spot. DH and I bd Sun, Mon and Tues. I hope that we hit the mark. Dh has been tested before and he got me pregnant in July so it is not him. I just hope the swimmers were hanging out when the egg popped. I am taking prog. supp as a precaution. My progesterone was low with my m/c. My fertility problem is a very subtle hormone imbalance. So hence the trigger shot and progesterone. Obviously I had enough estrogen to grow my own follicle, just really late in my cycle. So we can both hope we hit the mark. So you already have a child? My daughter is 4. Took us 2 years to get her. I didn't even have a period when we started back then, so my body has come a long way. I hope we can keep in touch, I would love to hear about your bfp!! |

Hi Carole, it's einfanti, jsut changes my usename. My partner and I have an 18 month old daughter. She was easy - happened on the 1st insemination. But this time has been longer - since Oct. Not nearly as awful as some of the stories I've heard - they are so sad, but these ladies are so strong and courageous, even when they feel their weakest. That's a lot of BD - I'm sure you hit the mark - those suckers last for days! Especially with EWCM. I start the prog tonight (YUCK!) I hate it so much - have to wear a liner all the time (TMI?). Are you taking prog orally? I wish my doc would let me do that. My BFP is a loooooooong way off - I will certainly cheat by the 27th. |

Elyse... Gosh isn't 18 months fun? I miss those days. 4 is great too, all the conversation and some things they come up with crack me up. I have been on this site since Aug. when I found out I was miscarrying. I post on the m/c section under "Going for Sept/Oct babies" They are a great group of girls but many of them don't have infertility problems so I thought I would check this side out. I have such an addiciton to testing. Aren't you worried if you test early, you will get a false positive? How long before the HCG is out of your system from the shot? My dr. told me to take the pills vaginally. I have never been on them but I hear they are messy. He said if you take them orally then side effects are really bad. Why do you have to inseminate? I really hope that we get a bfp but I am not going to set myself up to be sad. Even though all the important things are in place, it doesn't mean it will work, but hey, positive thoughts!!!!!! |

YES - positive thoughts for BFP's for all. We inseminate b/c I am with a woman. So neither of us has the "equipment". Last time we tried in Oct, I hpt'd on 13dp IUI. It was negative. I am afraid of a false negative, but all the ladies here test on 10dp IUI and still get negatives, so it seems like the HCG is out of the system. My Dr says it stays for 14 days or more, but I think he REALLY doesn't want me to do hpt for obvious reasons. I don't think I will be able to help myself though. Did you start the prog already? |

Elyse... Hey, I have been out of town for work. In training, ugh...!!! But I just got home and my daughter missed me so much. Such a good feeling! That is awesome for you and your partner. So did you pick out your donor and everything? My friend and her girlfriend have been talking about the same thing. Are you guys happy with the process? I so hope for a bfp for you. I was told also that the hcg stays in your system for 14 days. He told me not to test until day 15. That seems so long. I know I will breakdown, though. Where you live? I am in Virginia. I started the progesterone this morning, made sure I had a liner. :) Are there any side effects from it that you have noticed? |

Hey Carole. No side effects from the prog, except for disghusting wet feeling - ya know. And no side effects from the HCG. The only side effects I had were from the Repronex (injectables) - I gained about 5 lbs after taking it for 6 days and I feel VERY emotional and "soggy". My partner and I used the same donor we used for our duaghter. It is an amzing feeling to come home to her - I know what you mean. I'm a stay at home mom, but when we go to dinner or the theater or whenever we leave her with a sitter, I long to come home and hear her squeal with excitement. We live in NJ - about 30 minutes outside NYC. As for the process, we are SOOOOO happy, but I think it's b/c of the doctors we have. It's a fertility clinic with 3 Dr's and they are ALL wonderful. If your friend wants to talk about it, please let me know and I will give her (and you) my email or phone #. It is the most wonderful thing in the world to have a baby - and I can't waot to do it again. The 30th seems so far away! We will certainly cheat on the 27th (I think). How about you? |

Hi Carole and Elyse...I just wanted to tell you that my RE told me to test at 13 days post IUI even though I did have an HCG injection. In fact, they would have done a blood test 2 days earlier, but we were out of town that week. I tested positive that morning, and when I called to tell my nurse, she said that the HCG injection should be out of my system by that point and that I was most likely pregnant. She was right - my pregnancy was confirmed by a blood test the following week. I think it depends on which injection you have...I had Ovidrel, and I read somewhere that it is supposed to be out of your system within 6 or 7 days. Good luck to both of you!! |
