AHHHH. what a day. I quit my job today in protest to the way my employer has been treating me through this whole fertility thing. Luckly my husband is in full support and everything. So tomarrow I will start the job search process while having the femara side effects. ( I got so nauseous this morning that I had a really hard time getting out of bed ) I am going on my third day 2.5mg... and I was thinking....... I don't know how all of you do this two pill of femara thing! I can't amagine those side effects.
Well, everyone keep in touch and good luck! bye!

Hi, I just started my 1st cycle of Femara on Sunday, Nov. 6th I'm taking 2 2.5mg tablets for CD3-7 so far no side effects and i'm starting day 3 in the morning. I have my US scheduled for Mon. Nov. 14 @ 11:10am and I have to bring my trigger shot with me. What should I look for as far as follies? I see everyone talking about that but I'm not too sure what sizes are we looking for? This is all new to me.

Hey stephanie and JND . Hang in there Stephanie a couple more days to go. It'll get better. JND I'm not sure about sizes of follies, b/c we aren't doing that part on me yet and i don't tkae trigger shot. Sorry i couldn't help more.

Becca - November 8th, 2005 9:48 PM

Hi! I was doing a little research into femara and I saw JND's post. Follies need to be at least 16 mm by ovulation and your lining at least 7. Usually if a follicle is around 14 they expect it will be ready by ovulation if you take the trigger shot then. Do you use OPK to monitor in case you ovulate on your own?

JND - November 8th, 2005 11:41 PM

Becca, thanks for the info.My AF if very irregular as for this month I got a +OPK on Nov. 3rd(the day before that was -) and then I got AF the same day, so I just don't understand my body. I'm praying this US will give me some insight as to what is going on and exactly when. This is my 1st cycle of Fermara.

Stephanie - November 10th, 2005 10:49 PM

Finally finished with this round of femara... thank goodness! I will start testing tomarrow just to make sure that I don't ov early. Hope everyone is doing great. Keep in touch.

Stephanie, are you getting the HCG triggor shots too? How many cycles have you taken femara for?

Stephanie - November 11th, 2005 4:26 PM

Hi JND. I'm currently not taking any shots. I am just on femara 2.5mg and Metformin now up to 1500mg. I am in my second month of femara.
I currently am being treated by my OB/GYN not a specialist. My doctor has told me that she will see me for seven months befor sending me to a specialist. I have been pregnant before three times several years ago and I lost all those babies. My dr is hopeful that the femara will work without other medications. Femara is making me ov every month so far and I am really hoping that this is my month... it would be a fantastic Christmas presant for my husband.
How are you doing this month? is everything going well for you?
wishing you all the best and to everyone.

JND - November 12th, 2005 1:18 AM

Stephanie, hi this month was my first cycle of femara 2 2.5mg for CD 3-7 and I have to get an HCG trigger shot and a vag. US on Monday, my OBGYN says that the US is very good in narrowing down when I will O so I won't "miss" it. I hope I get good news by Christmas too that would be wonderful. What exactly does Metformin do? I thought that this med was for diabetes?

eb - November 12th, 2005 10:18 AM

Hi girls, I am currently on cd 28 and 12 dpo. No signs of af yet. I am a little anious. I took hpt on wed but - I figured it was too early. When would you guys test again??

Stephanie - November 12th, 2005 8:57 PM

Hello JND. Metformin is a medicine for diabetes but it is also to control my PCOS. It's a hormone/insulin thing I guess. I thought it was crazy too. My aunt is on the same medicine as I am for a different reason. My PCOS is the reason that I need to be on Femara- it causes infertility, weight gain and alot of really nasty side effects. Basically, my body makes more testosterone then estrogen while my insulin goes crazy. How metformin helps me with both those things some how...go figure!.
why this suprises me I don't know because femara is also used in the treatmets of woman who have breast cancer!! ( found it on the internet )

Also, eb. I really don't know. If it was me I would test everyday but that would just be the nerves in me talking. Good Luck to all. Bye

DH and I have been trying to conceive now for 1 1/2 yrs. I took Clomid 50-150mg for 7 months. While the 150mg did make me ovulate, I only got pregnant once which ended in my 6th week. My RE (new since taking the Clomid) said that it was doing too much damage to my uterine lining and cervical mucous to continue with it. She said that a great choice for me would be Femara (Letrozole - generic). She said that it actually helps to build up your lining and increase cervical mucous all while helping you to ovulate. She said that it will be overtaking Clomid soon as the 1st line drug in infertility. I am currently on day 8 of my cycle and last day of taking my Femara. I have had no side effects other than being tired and it is MUCH better than the Clomid ever was. I took 5mg (two pills) for days 4-8, I have an ultrasound scheduled for this Friday (Nov. 18th) and then and IUI when I ovulate. I am so excited to be moving to this next step but nervous it won't work. Thank for all of your input!!! I wish you all the best of luck!!!!
