Hi, can i know whether continuous usage of chlome will have any adverse effects on the body?

Penny - February 13th, 2005 7:53 PM

Hi i have PCOS and have just started taking clomid 50mg, My gyno told my to take it from day 2 to day 6 of my cycle. It seems that every doc precribes it slightly differently. As far as im am aware the only difference it makes is the day that you ovulate in your cycle. I would like to wish everyone luck and on a positive note my sister also has PCOS and successful concieved after taking 4 months of clomid so there is hope for everyone!

I was prescribed 50 mg of Clomid and I was told to start taking on day 6 one a day for 5 days.

I was prescribed clomid 6 months ago. I was on 50mg for 2 months, then 100mg for 3 months on days 3-7. Now I am off of it, it didn't work for me. I did get a few small cysts from it, but when you go off of Clomid they go away on thier own. But the best advice I have it to use the ovulation kits!!! I only did this the first 2 month, but wish I would have kept better track of it! Good luck to all :)

tryin4baby - February 15th, 2005 4:28 PM

now i was just told today that i can not try another cycle of clomid. i only did one cycle. the lining of my uterus wasn't great but wasn't to bad either. clomid thins the lining of the uterus and as they put it today, the baby needs a "pillow" which would be the uterus so it needs to be thicker. they are switching me to the injections for my 2nd month. so i am now finding out that clomid isn't good to be on for to long of a time.

I was on injections of Follistim but lost my infertility insurance. I have PCOS and don't get my period unless the OB or RE starts one with the pill or by stimulating my ovaries with Follistim. Now all I have is Clomid, I live in a small town away from my RE and don't have a doc here. (We moved last Fall after a failed in-vitro). My RE gave me bc pills to start periods and a scrip for Clomid 100mg. I took it in September but it didn't do a thing. I didn't even get a period like I did with Follistim. Now I started a period today (from BC pills) after waiting 6 months to let things settle down. I actually have extra Clomid and wonder if the 100mg dose was just too low for me. My RE was very well-known and VERY successful- he got me pregnant on my 1st in-vitro but one of the embryos ended up in my fallopian tube and the one in my uterus died b/c its heart stopped beating. This was exactly 1 year after I gave birth to a stillborn son due to a nurse's grave mistake. My son Jacob would be 2 this month, and it's been a year since the miscarriage and 6 months since the last invitro try. (That one didn't work). I'm wondering if I should take the Clomid on different days than my RE said (he says day 5) and if I should take a higher dose. 100mg didn't even phase my ovaries, but they'd been bombarded with stronger meds for a year before trying the Clomid. The year of trying to get pregnant with Follistim and all those hormones made me gain about 15 pounds, and I had gained 15 with my son. I wonder if weight loss would help, but it seems no matter what I do, I can't lose weight! I know it is a typical PCOS thing, but I used to be thin and got a regular period every month. Now I have to take BC pills to get a period. I'm 36, have no money for infertility treatments and have only the Clomid. My hubby's new insurance doesn't cover infertility, while his old one covered in-vitro AND the meds needed. I guess I am as confused as everyone else- just how does Clomid work, and does it work on people who have used stronger follicle stimulating drugs? I know I will try 150mg this time, but I am tempted to try 200mg. I doubt I will- I'd be too scared, but it gets frustrating. Has anyone ever taken 200mg before? And I am still confused about the date to start Clomid. My RE says day 5. I had long cycles when I got my period, every 35-40 days, so does that determine when you should take it? Color me very confused and quite desperate. I'd appreciate any comments or advice, my email is thaliajen@yahoo.com

Hi, I was just started on 100mg of Clomid on the 5th, (3rd day into my cycle, up to day 5) and also Metformin 500mg 2 times/day for 1 week, 500mg 3 times/day for 1 week then up to 800mg 2times/day for good. I dont have diabetes but because I have pcos my gyn felt that this would help. Has anyone had success with a regimin similar to this? Has anyone had sucess with their first course?

Donna - May 25th, 2005 4:11 PM

This is my second month on Clomid 2 50mg tablets a day. The first month I took them from day 5-9 and this time the doctor has me on them from day 3-7. I got pregnant so fast with my first child and now it is more difficult. I am not sure why certain days of taking it are more effective. I think it has something to do with the estrogen and FSH levels. Does anyone know?
