But for others... period like symptoms mean nothing...I felt the same thing after IUI..Also, I am a very impatient person and took a pg test earlier than two weeks thinking it may work..I rcvd a negative result and was very depressed...even though I was sure I was't pregnant I took the test again after the two weeks and I was indeed pregnant..now going on 20 wks. Answer: Sperm washing is done when you are going to get an IUI done. They wash the sperm so that the stronger "swimmers" will be in your uterus and have a better chance fertilizing the egg. As far as the infection goes usually they will perscribe an antibiotic. RE means reproductive Doctor. I also have PCOS and was having trouble ovulating. I had my IUI done on 5/4/05. I was on injec. this cycle and ended up with OHSS (ovarian Hyperstimulation) which can cause alot of pain. As far as neg. testing at home goes I asked my RE when the soonest time I can test at home and they said they don't recommend it because you can get false positives or neg and they don't test until your 35 day of your cycle. I too tested today and it showed neg, but I have some signs of preg like cramping, sore bbs, tiredness but those signs can also mean that your AF is coming for a visit so I really don't know. I personally would advice for those who are waiting for the result not to take the HPT until we missed our period, otherwise it will just give unnecessary pressure to ourselves. I remember when I was 7 weeks pregnant to my daughter, my doctor cannot see anything from the ultrasound, he advised me to treat myself not pregnant yet cause he didn't want me to be disappointed if anything happen. Answer: Lori- I was pretty much convinced that af was coming. Sore bb's near the end- bloated... right after the IUI- like next day & nearly next week & 1/2 felt a dull ache really low in my pelvic area-tmi- but like when I was urinating & if I pushed at all- it felt like the cramp got stronger. I could feel any gas going thru- kind of a cramp & was then gone after it was passed. sorry- I know tmi! But I was convinced it was af on the way - all the same signs, only with af my bb's hurt for maybe a day- with this my bb's began hurting- then 4 days later when af was supposed to arrive- it didn't! It was all I could do- not to test- but I was to test on Sunday morning- tested & did not see an immediate line- so figured it was negative- came back about 10 mins later & saw a faint line! 1st one since my m/c last fall!!! I had no hope it would happen the 1st time- only 1 good follicle, my dh's sperm sample-(per the doctor) was a very small sample- so we were prepared for a negative! All I can say is don't give up, try to stay positive, & say your prayers & they will be answered! Oceans of baby dust your way!!! Keep us posted on what you find!! Good luck!! :O)

I was extremely tired that day and the following day, and then felt better after that, but after the follow-up HcG injections, I felt cramp, tired, restless, breast pain, etc. etc... The Doctor's assistant told me that those symptoms are better than nothing, but not to put too much meaning to it. I am getting the blood test next Tuesday, which would be 16th day from the IUI. Answer: Ashley and all, Hi,your post made me smile (which is the first smile I had today....) . I am usually very happy, not much mood-swing, but starting yesterday, I have been in this very negative mode. I am suspecting it is the usual PMS as my period is coming near...but hope not. To know that someone like you have the same experience, almost coinciding in time, and looking at you being very positive and all is very very encouraging! Thanks! I had three mature follicles according to the last ultrasound, which was done two days before the IUI. The size weren't very big, they were between 16mm and 17mm. I guess if the Doctor said it is very good, the size must be OK. I wonder if my body size (which is quite small) affect my egg size (I am probably talking silly.) Yes, I am very anxious, but I am too afraid to take the test at home! People say we might get a misleading result as the injection (HcG)might be still in the body system. My doctor said I can come in on Monday to do a blood test if I like, or wait longer to see if my period is not coming at all. (But how long should I wait for non-period?) It is like a human lotterly. When you get it, you get it, but until you do, you just wonder and wonder. Hope your 2nd week is going to be an easy one! Believe in the ability of reproducing a baby (after all, it is a natural thing for an animal to do) with lots of scientific help, and our prayers!!! Lots of baby dust to you!

Answer: Macaron-My friend who just got pregnant from IUI took her test on day 26 of her cycle and tested postive. She took one the day before and it was negative. I guess having a negative test first is a good sign that the drugs are out of your system. I would just do whatever makes you feel at peace. I am going to test on the day of my missed period because I am leaving for a wedding in Florida that same day. I will not be able to take a blood test until the week after. Are you taking progesterone? I am wondering if that makes your cycle longer? Oh and I was so irritable yesterday as well. I was like that a couple of days of the fertility shots. I am 30 and I have a high FSH and endometriosis so I have a couple of things against me, but my RE was really surprised that I responded to drugs. But my bb temp is still high (36.9),so probably not getting it so soon. You are right about progesterone having effect of prolonging your cycle. Yes, I am taking it too. ( The medicine I am using is called Utrogestan. ) The reasons why I am getting fertility treatment is that (1)I am 39 and the Dr thinks we should expedite the process before it gets too late, and (2) my boyfriend's sperm test came back as on "borderline" . On the day of the IUI, though, Dr told us that his sperm condition was so much better than before, and there were three million count (washed), which he said is not "borderline" anymore. (We were very happy to hear that and I just kept on cheering up the sperms, imagining their swimming up to my eggs!) Well, I guess I might take the test at home maybe tomorrow. I have been feeling it both sides and have been tired. I had my IUI on Monday May 16. One follie. But get this. I ovulated in the doctor's office right after she inseminated me! Answer: Hi everyone, I had my IUI on 9 May and tomorrow will be my 13 days after IUI. I don't feel so crampy as before and my breasts are not sore or getting bigger but my nipples are getting a little bit bigger than usual, also I feel hungry all the time. I feel like getting fatter because I didn't do any exercise for 2 weeks (you know after 35, fat just can store anywhere in your body, especially around the waist area). After I gave birth to my daughter almost 3 years ago, I have been loosing my hair a lot when I washed them, but this few days it calms down a lot, don't know this is a good sign or not. I had two follicles this time and if I am not pregnant I am not going to try IUI again. My husband both decided if no luck this year, we are going to adopt a baby next year. Answer: becky, I think you are almost sync with my cycle. My last period was April 25, and I got IUI on May 7th, and I just got a blood test at the clinic and found out I was actually pregnant! However, the hcg level is very low, so not very stable at the moment. Dr gave me more Progesterone pills and I am going back for another test in a few days to see if it has grown at all...I am scared if it is a very weak one and might have misccarriage. Anyway, I had negative result just yesterday with HPT, so you may well be pregnant if you are still not getting af. Hang in there! Answer: Ashley - I live in a pretty small town, so in order to do IUI, I have to drive 2.5 hours. My doctor gave me a form for a blood test this thursday, but since I am working a 12 hour shift, I can't go until Friday. They say they get the results the next business day, which due to the holiday will then be Tuesday. Of course, by then AF will probably rear her ugly face. I really can't do the sonograms and all that like everyone else because of the long drive. I have to test real early in am and call the office when they open and tell them I am on my way. Last time the 2.5 hour trip took 5 hours because I managed to lock my keys in the car, and then there was a huge traffic jam and when I tried to find my way around it, I got lost. The thought of doing that several more times is depressing, plus everytime I go, I have to call in sick for work. OK, enough whining... At least I have the opportunity to try!! Answer: Thanks Macaron for your encouragement! I had another low temperature today. I have been doing this long enough to know that means AF is coming. I will take a test Thursday morning just to make sure. I don't know if any of you are taking your waking basal body temperature, but that can sometimes be a predictor of pregnancy. If your temp. stays high then you are probably pregnant if it starts to go down then your AF is more than likely coming. Most of you probably already know that! Answer: I have been reading over all of the stories and am really amazed how many IUIs. To share, I had my first DI (donor insemination) May 13th, no sperm count whatsoever. Anyway, used clomid so I had two follicles that were released with HCG. First few days major cramping along with extremely sore bbs. Well on day 10, there it was, my best friend, AF. That was one of the most difficult times I had to go thru. Hope this helps someone.

It said not to analyze the symptoms so much but to focus more on the 'end product'- the child. And it also said to take on the reasoning that we have done everything that WE could do to give the best chance of conception, as well as the best environment for implantion and the rest is faith and prayerfulness...And to keep trying. Answer: hi, I had my blood tests, one 2 days ago and hcg level was 38. Today second time and now its 60. Dr told me that I am likely to loose it as it is not growing as fast as it should be. Normal pregnancy should produce around 200~300 hcg level at this point. He said there is still a chance, so we will monitor it, but not to lift up my hope to much. I am very very very sad. Answer: I had my 1st IUI on 5/15. I took Femara cycle days 3-7. HCG injection & then progesterone cream a day after my IUI. Are any of you using progesterone CREAM. Answer: Hi everyone, after 3 days working, I am back home. My af came on the 1st day when I was away, felt so awful, when I talked to my best friend on that day, I couldn't help to have tears in my eyes. All the symtoms I tried so hard to feel confused me and made me stressed a lot, especially could sleep very well in that 2 weeks. Anyway I am back to normal now, sleep well and do a lot of exercises. I won't think about what was wrong that made me not pregnant, I think God knows when is my time and he already planned for me. My overall reactions after IUI were - little cramp, no big breasts, tired, hungry, sensitive nipples, getting a bit fatter and dizzy. These symtoms can be anything, so please don't focus so much on the symtoms like me, otherwise you will not sleep very well. I really hope you girls will have a ++++ result. God blessed.

Answer: Becky, I am sorry to hear that AF came to visit. No matter how much we tell her to stay away, she continues to bother us. I had my first IUI on 5/12 and AF is due today or tomorrow. I took a hpt this morning and it was of course negative, as always. I did go in to the lab for bloodwork, but I probably won't hear anything until Tuesday and by then AF will probably be here. I am driving myself crazy!! Yesterday when I first got to work, I had a dizzy spell and had to sit down and grabbed onto a table. It is making my mind go a thousand miles a minute wondering if there is a possibility.... My husband says I want it so much I am imagining things. Answer: sara, some bleeding happens at inplantation. My friend had bleeding that looked more than spotting, and though she was certain she had a short period, she was pregnant! So, don't loose hope. For those of you who have been giving me encouragement, thank you so much! It is not stable yet, but it seems my pregnancy is still here. My first blood test on 17th days DPO was 38, then two days later, 60, not doubling as it should be, and the absolute level is low, so Dr told me not to expect I will keep this pregnancy. It would probably be a miscarriage. But today, 6 days later, got a third test, and the level has surged to 810!!! which is more than 8 times in 6 days which would be the doubling pace, but 13 times!!! I am so glad I didn't loose my hope. I will keep praying this embryo will grow strongly and become fetus and become a beautiful baby in 9 months! I am 32 going on 33 in August, and my husband and I have to use donor since he is infertile. This cost alot $300 just for the donor, then all the testing, medications and IUI on top. This was my first month on the 13th and well, things did not work out as planned. I think everyone needs to have a limit set, how many months of trying before you go over the deep end. I set mine for 4 months, only because this is how many vials of donor I have. After that, well I guess it will be time to move on. Answer: Hello, I just got AF after only my 12th after my 1st iui. In fact it is only my 25th day of my cycle which is not normal for me. I am really going heavy and severly cramping. Is this a really bad sign? I am really depressed. I didin't even get the chance to go to the dr. I really thought I was pregnant...my breasts were incredibly sore, I was dog-tired. We (hub and I) have decided to take a month off so I can give myself a stress break and try again in July. This is so discouraging. It must be very stressful at times, but please try to think positively. Many people told me to suppose the worst and then I won't be disappointed a s much, but I decided that that won't do any good to increasing the chance, because I am a believer of will power and positive thinking having positive effect on the outcome. We will be disappointed anyway, no matter how low we set our expectation, bcause deep inside, we want to lift up our hope. Answer: Deb, I have been on clomid for 3 months now. It seems as if my AF cycle does not want to cooperate. I started on cycle days 5 thru 9 of clomid. Last month I added the HCG inj to release 2 follicles that were detected with US. This month I changed to cycle days 3 thru 7 of clomid. I think the inj and clomid produce the same results, eggs. If the eggs are there and dropped at the right time, your chances are greater for the end result that we are all looking for. If you do the HCG inj to release the follicles this will give you a definate time to do the IUI, 36 hours after the inj. your eggs will release. Hope this helps. Trust me, I have read just about everything on this subject that I could find. Sometimes too much knowledge is not always a good thing. Natasha, are you taking any prometrium (progesterone)?? Answer: natasha, I think we are on the same boat. I did my first IUI on 5/7, and tested on 17th day DPO(day post ovulation) and the hCG was 38, 2 days later, 60. It didn't quite double, and the absolute term was low, so the Dr told me I was almost certainly going to miscarry, but there still is some chance, although very little. I prayed and prayed and ate everything that is good for pregnancy though I wasn't hungry. I took it very easy, rested and had nap everyday etc. Then 6 days later (25 DPO), the level was up at 810. It more than doubled in every two days. Don't give up. As much as I trust my doctor, I told myself that I have to keep my positive thought because if the embryo inside me wants to live, and still trying, if I give up on it, what chance does it stand? You can try your best and keep your positive thought, and if it is not this time, the nature knows when is the best time for you. But the game is over, be positive!!!

Answer: natasha, I haven't done my first ultra sound yet. The doctor told me to come in next Friday, wich would be 35 DPO. I've done three blood test so far and the last one was 810, so my hCG should be well over 2000 when I get my first ultra sound, if everything is going OK. It's tough, though. I wonder what is going on in my uterus. Just prayin that the embryo is still growin at a rapid pace! Once I hear the heart beat of the baby, I think I can be feel that I am indeed pregnant. yes, I still have soar breast, and my tummy is getting bigger (I had to go an buy bigger sized underwear), and my boobs are bigger, too. Answer: Sara, I think believing in yourself and the power you have will increase the chance. Also, making your husband a nice cup of coffee before he collects sperm may help! ( You should do a research on your own, but I learned from some research that caffine for husband before making love or producing the sperm increase the mobility of the sperm.) Actually, I had my boyfriend have a cup of nice coffee that morning of IUI, and the DR said somehow the mobility and the sperm count increased dramatically. (I am now pregnant!) Ashley, I am going back this Friday for my first ultra sound. It seems as if the uncomfortableness around my tummy and my breast has decreased a bit, which is making me worry, but haven't started spotting or anything, so I am trying to think it is just that my body got used to the change. Answer: Baby dust to all!!! I had my first iui on 5/30/05 & 5/31/05. I had 4 mature follies DH had 139million on 5/30/05 & 93million 5/31/05 both days 88% mobility. We have been ttc for 8 yrs. 1994 was told I have PCO. Ist cyle back in Mar.2005 18 mature follies cancled due to chance of muiltiple births and hyperstim. This was horrible Ovaries were the size of tennis balls. April 2005 mulit cyst put on birth control to shrink. Finally May 2005 took 50mg of clomid 5 days on follistim injectables 75 and resulted in 4 mature follies 16 to 20mm Hcg 5000 units on 5/2905. taking estrace .05mg. I had terrible cramping on the table after 1st iui that lasted 10minutes. 2nd iui next day No pain or cramping since 1st iui. 6/3/05 hcg booster shot. 6/4/05 about five quick sharp pains in uterus and slight cramping off and on that night. 6/8/05 go to have progest and estrog levels checked. and possiably another hcg booster shot. 6/15/05 go for beta.This is my story. my bbs hurt i have no pain I am still swollen from meds Please anyone out there please say a pray I am 29 DH is 33 ttc for 8yrs we need all the prays we can get out there. But I truly think it was the IUI that did it, as when I had intercourse the same night, I could feel my cerivx　was trying to fend off anything that would come in. It was very painful. I was exhausted on the IUI day, and the next day, and just slept a whole lot.

Saw my gynae today, he did a scan but could not see any gestational sacs, so he seemed unconvinced I was pregnant. I have been on both duphaston and utrogesten the last 3 weeks- not sure if the meds inhibited my period. However, doc has advised me to continue with duphaston 2x a day for another week, and see which comes first, my period or a positive result on an hpt! Its disheartening on some level, to have this uncertainty, its almost like I'm so near and yet so far from my goal, but maybe there is a reason for all this. We'll see how this week pans out.....

I believe I had three follicles...two for sure maybe a third one. It was borderline size, but it may have grown in two days. I have had hardly any cramping this IUI. Last time I had really bad cramping the evening of my IUI. I almost feel like I have not ovulated. Has anyone had this happen? I took the HCG trigger shot on Saturday at 11:00 PM. This would make it about 56 hours after. My basal body temperature has not gone up as well and I still have cervical fluid? Any ideas or suggestions out there? My breasts are tender, but that is from the HCG shot. I probably just need to stop thinking about it and move on. If it is meant to happen then the Lord will allow it to. 2 weeks seems like a long wait:-) I know you all can relate.

Answer: Teja- I know my doctor told me you have about 20-25% chance of getting pregnant with each IUI. Some women have one follicle and get pregnant and some have four and do not. Answer: Kim, the only thing I have is just mild cramping every 3 days or so I have sore boobs and just really tired. I had a rupture cyst on Tuesday this was so painful. talked to RE and he says evrything is fine and that sometimes the HCG booster shots make cyst grow and rupture but the chance of being pregnant still remains as long as there was not any bleeding and there wasn't but I'm my ovaries are really sore. I have PCOS and was put on Clomifene for 5 days, injectibles for 6 days and an HSG shot. i had four follicles...three good ones and my husband's sperm count was 44 million. Answer: Applecarm-I have read that you can have increased creamy fluid if you are pregnant, but I am not sure if that would actually be a pregnancy symptom. I had some a couple of days after my IUI, but then nothing. Not sure about the veins, but I have heard of women who get that during pregnancy. I did not have it when I was pregnant with my son three years ago. I really hope you get a positive! Kim-I have heard of that book as well. I think I might get it. I have "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" and that has been great, but I think I am passed everything in that book:-) I really hope we all have good news to share. Macaron-How are you doing? Answer: Well, I had my second IUI on 5th June. I feel alot more relxed this time and I am hoping that things go my way. The waiting was agony last time and the 'am I or aren't I' was killing me. On my first cycle of IUI, ovulation was triggered by the doctor via injections. This time I was shocked when the Ovulation test came back positive. So maybe this time my body is telling me the time is right. It took me two years to fall preg with my son (he is now 15 months old). I have another medical condition and the doc wants me to have another baby asap. thats ok for the docs to say, but it stresses me out when they say 'Why isn't it happening?'. It's like 'Well, why is the grass green?'. How the hell would I know?!? Anyway, just sharing my story. I have been reading everyone elses positive notes for months now. My doctor has told us that due to my medical conditions we should try IUI one more time and then try IVF. He even wants us to think about using a donor egg. Answer: Sharmila, I am also an IUI with donor. Did you get yours through a cryobank? I do not find many people to talk to that are also using donor. I did my second IUI yesterday the 14th. I do not believe that it took. On Monday I had a positive on ovulation kit, and small positive yesterday. Dr. said to come in and have done. This morning no big temp increase, so it looks as if body was playing tricks on me. He originally scheduled IUI for today, with HCG shot yesterday. Answer: tracy- i to used a cryobank and can say that i have been diappointed with it. I have had 2 iui's and going on my 3. The sperm count was very low and i blame the cryobank for not getting pregnant i had 1 follicle the first time and 4 the second time i really feel i should have gotten pregnant the second time. So i am going to have my dr research the cryobank and find out what the minimum sperm count they require in order to donate. I might just go with someone i know. you should find out what your donors count was!

Answer: Vani, I use the Fairfax cryobank in VA. My donor is something like 35/million. Not sure exactly what that means. My dr said that I have the best specimen he has ever seen from a donor. Usually when thawed, there is only about half that is living, almost all of mine was moving about. I only use chlomid, no injections therefore I only had 1 follice, last month I had two. Dr wants me to take a break for a few months to get my body on track and also take a mental break. Best of luck to all..

Answer: After two attempts with IUI, I seem to be crampy and have sore breasts the first week after the IUI, but then it goes away. I think that is the HCG in my symptom which makes since because it is a pregnancy hormone. I am on day 24 of my cycle. I should test on Sunday, but I tested early and it has been negative both times. I told myself that I was not going to test again until Sunday. We will see:-) I actually called my girlfriend that just got pregnant with IUI. She said that she had no symptoms at all in regards to sore breasts and cramping. She did say that she was acting a little crazy so she told me not to focus so much on my symptoms. I know that is so hard when you really want to be pregnant more than anything else. Hope this helps!

Answer: Hi all....I had my second IUI on June 9th and 10th.I took my HCG shot on 8th night and I was on clomid(150) for five days during my cycle.Last IUI,my ovulation was very painful.This time I had no problems but had to take valium b/c I have a sensitive cervix.After 2nd day of IUI,I started progesterone suppositoies 3 times a day.I went for my blood test to my RE's office on the 15th and ultrasound showed I released 3 good eggs.They said levels looked good and asked me to start estrogen patch from that evening and next week after testing if I am not pregnant ,I can take it off.From the 15th, I started having a dull streching kind of pain on my stomach and got worse int he evening.The next day,the pain extended to both sides of my ovaries and lower abdomen plus I was very gassy.Today,the pain is better coz I lay down the whole time yesterday but the streching pain keeps coming on and off ( not continous).Today,I had severe headache and am very thristy in spite of drinking lods of h2o.Did I mention I have PCOS and am on a carbohydrate controlled diet.Can somebody please lemme know what's happening and if anybody is in the same situation.I test on 22 Jun, but the waiting is killing me.......

Answer: Hi Chris, To answer your ques. my dr. said it was 100% that I would ovulate with inj. was he just being poitive...? But he was correct in my case. I have tken hi doses of clomid, femara with no reaction. I have PCOS and did a 12 day cycle on gonal f I had 5+ foll. on each ovary with 6 at 16-20mm 2days before IUI. Because they check your blood daily the Dr can tell if your dose is enough for your body. We'll see how this worked for me. My Dr also said my risk for mult. is very hi. God Bless...

Answer: Ladies----my friend who just got pregnant from IUI tested negative until the day of her missed period. She used the early response tests as well that detects the lowest level of HCG. If you got a negative, there is still hope. I also heard that if you test too soon that you can get a false positive if you had the HCG shot. Best wishes to you all. Answer: I had my second iui today. I had two huge follicles on both ovaries. And my husband count went from 9.5 million to 75 million. Please pray for us and i will know on two weeks. Congrats Amy

Answer: Hi all, it;s me Monica, Marea, thanks for the thoughts...I am feeling better than I was yesterday. I wasn't even online yesterday (miracle) because I was held up at my doctors office. I was over stimulated this cycle. My cramps got really bad so I called my RE and he told me to come in ASAP. When I did they did blood work, urine analysis and sono. My ovaries were HUGE! I was told to go home do nothing but weigh myself and drink fluid. They also told me to monitor my temp and how many times I tinkled. I did as I was told, went back this morning for more blood work. I am still crampy but not like yesterday. I just got a tele call and my blood work came back fine. Thank God cause I know it can get very complex being hyper stimulated. To ans. your question, I am the one who doesn't ovulate regularly. I have a mild case of endo and PCOS. My hubby's swimmers are swimming well ;-).I was prego last May but miscarried at 8 weeks :-( I am positive though that everything happens for a reason. I am trying to keep my spirits up and you all are helping A LOT! :-) THANKS!!!! This Friday is THE DAY, I am a bit anxious. I am determined to keep busy this week to keep my mind off of it. Answer: Well, AF arrived after my second IUI. I don't know if I have the strength to do it again. Im going to speak to my dr today and see what other alternatives we have. Medically, time is running out for me and Im very stressed. As we all know, trying to conceive is a huge pressure and well all feel very emotional. Sorry to hear your news Macaron, but keep your chin up until you know for sure. Let us know how you go, as you are with many friends here :)

Answer: happypiglet, why don't you look into IVF? But don't loose all hope 2 times is not a lot. even with iui we still only have a 25% of getting pregnant and that is on the high end. keep working at it, think of it as a coin toss your number is bound to come up at some point.

Answer: Happypiglet- I know exactly how you are feeling! My doctor has given me a small window as well. We are going to give IUI another shot and then make some decisions after that. We have also been praying about adoption and I have found a great agency that I really like. Amy-I am so glad to see another success story! I know you must be so excited! Monica-I will be praying for Friday.

Answer: Amy that's awasome, that's the kind of stories we all want to tell! I wish I didn't have to take HCG so that I could test sooner too. Oh well only 12 more days. It seems like an eternity. We will be testing on our son's birthday July 1. Wish us luck! My prayers are with everyone!

Answer: I tested this morning and it was negitive.
