Q&A | Problems getting pregnant? | First time on chlomid

Welcome, guest
Name: Elizabeth Title of Question: First time on chlomid
Question: Hi! This is this is my first time on this board and on clomid. I am very excited because my dh and I have been trying for a long time, but I am afraid the pressure of trying to concieve will actually prevent us. Does anyone have any suggestions? Today is day 11 and I took the chlomid days 5-9. I have had a loss of appetite and have been very thirsty, but those are the only side effects so far.

Answer: Hi Elizabeth and welcome!! I just my first round of clomid as well. I am on cd 19. I do not have any preggo symptoms though, as a matter of fact I feel menstrual like cramps already. I had only mild side effects also. I get blood drawn on mon to see if I ovulated. I am not very optimistic that I got preggo, but I will be happy if I did ovulate. How about you?? Are you scheduled for bloodwork also. I wish you lots of baby blessings.

Name: Elizabeth | Date: May 21, 2005, 23:28
Answer: I am supposed to call the doctor on cd 14 to have my blood drawn on cd 21 to see if I ovulated. I am really hoping that we have luck with chlomid. My husband has been checked and everything is good with him. I don't want to get excited because I know this can take months, but it is nice to be hopeful. I hope you the best of luck to you as well! How many many mg of chlomid are you taking?

Name: Melissa | Date: May 21, 2005, 23:54
Answer: Hi Elizabeth, I am on day 13 and this is my first round of clomid also. I know what you mean about the stress of trying. I've found that I have a bit more hope this month because I've also been charting my temp and cervix. I have now moved from medium to high position. So, hopefully that means tomorrow I will O. good luck. We are all here to support you. :-)

Name: Elizabeth | Date: May 22, 2005, 0:14
Answer: Thanks Melissa! It is so nice to receive support! I know that when it is our time, we will get pregnant, but it is still hard month after month to find out that we are not. I have heard both good and bad things about chlomid. Does anyone else seem extremely thirsty while taking chlomid?

Name: Jill | Date: May 22, 2005, 2:05
Answer: I took Clomid for my cycle this month. I'd never taken it before, but my aunt had and I talked to her about it. I didn't get thirsty, but boy was I moody! We find out the big news on Monday afternoon! I'm hoping.

Name: kelly | Date: May 22, 2005, 22:19
Answer: Elizabeth, I am on 50mg. How about you?

Name: Elizabeth | Date: May 22, 2005, 22:23
Answer: I am currently on 50 mg. Does anyone know when to start using an OPK? I heard that you are supposed to wait at least 3 days after you stop taking chlomid so that you don't get a false positive, so I don't know when to start testing. Any insight would be great!

Name: Cami | Date: May 22, 2005, 23:28
Answer: Hi - I am also on my first round of clomid and have been thirsty too. I am also experiencing hot flashes where I get real flushed. I had an HSG done on April 27th. Then I requested that my hormone level be checked so I had a blood test on day 21. For some reason I started my period on day 24- the nurse said that sometimes this happens after having an HSG. My progesterone came back borderline,a 7, so my doctor wanted me to begin Clomid. My husband has been against taking clomid and we have been trying to have another baby for 5 years. I took Clomid last week, but my doctor told me to start it on Day 1. Are you all taking Clomid on Day 5-9? I am concerned because today is day 8 and now I am spotting again? Did anyone have spotting after taking Clomid? I am going to call my doctor tom. I miscarried last school year at ten weeks so I'm paranoid when I spot when I'm not supposed to. Good Luck to all of you-I'll keep you in my prayers- Cami

Name: Melissa | Date: May 23, 2005, 9:15
Answer: I'm also on 50mg and am dying of thirst and have had hot flashes. Also, man am I grumpy! I hope it works this month. I have not been advised to get blood drawn. I wonder why?

Name: jennifer | Date: May 23, 2005, 12:51
Answer: hi elizabeth, this is my first clomid exp. too. I am on CD21 I took 100 mg and hated the effects I looked like I swallowed a huge water ballon and it's sitting in my belly. The cramping was and stil is bad for me but...everyone is different. Good luck The OPKs aren't always accurate I used the fertile focus microscope and the sticks and they both said different stuff. Does anyone know implantaion cramps could star? I have alot of cramps and no bleeding yet? Good Luck to all- Try to be patient and I know it will happen for all-It is so great that there are so many forums you can read and bitch to-

Name: cami | Date: May 23, 2005, 12:55
Answer: I had spotting too.very light pink on day 14-i did research and found that it could be from a rise of estrogen at the time of ovulation.are you suppose to be ovulating at this time? jen

Name: Melissa | Date: May 23, 2005, 14:09
Answer: Hi Jennifer. I had cramping the week prior to when I was supposed to start af (for the whole week) when I was pg with my son. Cami, you ovulate mid cycle, so if you are on day 14 this is normal.

Name: Drew | Date: May 24, 2005, 12:56
Answer: Hi ladies, I am also on Clomid. I started May 5, day 3 of my cycle till day 7-100mg. I have noticed that not many were advised to start on the third day of their cycle... is there a "right" day to start it? Gosh this is confusing!!! Good luck to all!

Name: Melissa | Date: May 24, 2005, 14:02
Answer: Hi Drew I started on cd 5, but I have read that you can start as early as cd 1 and as late as cd 5. It all depends on the dr, person, and situation.

Name: Serena | Date: May 26, 2005, 15:08
Answer: I am on my first round of Clomid also, however, we will also may be using IUI. I hope that the pressure of it all doesn't prevent conception. I didn't feel stressed until I started taking the pill and the realization that pregnancy isn't going to happen naturally. I have only been taking it for three days and I don't know if it is my imagination or if I am really getting bloated.

Name: Gracie | Date: May 26, 2005, 21:07
Answer: Drew, I am taking clomid cd 3-7 also and just upped to 100 mg.

Name: Kelly | Date: May 26, 2005, 23:26
Answer: Well ladies I found out Tuesday that I did not ovulate on my first round of clomid. My progesterone was 5.7 on cd21. Now I must take provera for 10days on cd30, wait, and try 100mg of clomid. I am not looking forward to the side effects from that, however if I ovulate it will be well worth it!!! I have also been instructed to take cd 3-7. Baby blessings to all!!

Name: Crystal | Date: May 27, 2005, 9:32
Answer: Hey Kelly! It sounds like we are in the same boat. I dont have af at all if I dont take provera or bc. Do you? Good luck with the next round of clomid. I am on cd 9. Today is my last pill of the 100mg. I will know start using the opk's to see when and if I ovulate. I then go in for 21 day test. We are just hoping for the best. Good luck to you !!!

Name: sabrina | Date: June 2, 2005, 1:02
Answer: Hi, this is my first time too, yes i do feel very thirsty and am getting hot flushes. I also have a rash on my body and my face. I dont know if this is usual. I feel bloated too.

Name: Melissa | Date: June 2, 2005, 7:58
Answer: Hi Sabrina. If you have a rash you should get it checked out right away. Have you called your doctor?

Name: Melissa | Date: June 2, 2005, 7:59
Answer: Ok, I haven't been instructed to get blood drawn on cd 21. Is there anybody else who is not getting blood drawn?

Name: Melissa | Date: June 2, 2005, 8:00
Answer: Kelly, where you charting or anything? Did you have eggwhite cm? Just wondering. I think I'm right around the same cd as you.

Name: Angie | Date: June 2, 2005, 10:18
Answer: melissa, i dont have to get my blood check as well, but i dont have pcos or anything like that, however i do have irregular period, so in order for me to get pregnant faster she suggested to take clomid. Now this is my second cycle and so far nothing yet. Good luck and hope this helps...

Name: Melissa | Date: June 2, 2005, 11:29
Answer: Thanks Angie. I alos do not have PCOS. They did find a (one) cyst that she said would go away on it's own. I've also be keeping track and realized I wasn't o'ing. That's why my dr put me on the clomid. Thanks Angie.

Name: Kelly | Date: June 2, 2005, 11:49
Answer: MELISSA, no I do not chart becaue I get up in the morning at different times and cannot take temp at same time every morning. Also, no eggwhite cm. CRYSTAL, I have good news. I started af on my own. I did not ovulate, but I did not have to wait for af after taking provera. So, I am now on cd7 and will finish up my last dose of 100mg of clomid tonite. I guess you are cd14 today, right? Did you have any side effects on the 100mg? Let me know how your cd21 bloodwork turns out. I wish all of you ladies the best!!! Baby dust *:*:*:*:

Name: NIKKI SHAI | Date: June 2, 2005, 12:17
Answer: HELLO, EVERYONE! I did not know that I was NOT alone in this baby quest! First, thank everyone for sharing with me your situations. I feel less pressure knowing that I am not the only female struggling in this. I have a question for the clomid users. Has anyone experienced SEVERE breast tendernous while on clomid? I am on my first round of 50mg and i started on day 5 (May 11), but for the past week my breast have been HORRIBLY tender. Is this a common side effect? I also have been having horrible cramping (period like cramps) since the breast tenderness began. Anyone else have these symptoms?

Name: Crystal | Date: June 2, 2005, 12:42
Answer: Congrats Kelly! I am so Happy for you! I didnt notice any different side effects from the 100mg. I am on cd 15 today. I hate this 2WW. I really hope it works for me this time. If not I am switching to drs. I go to an OB right now but if I am not pregant this round I am going to go to the RE at Duke here in NC. I will keep you updated when I get my blood work done. I am using OPK's and i got a faint line on Monday. Then I took another one last night and there was nothing. So hopefully that wasnt just an evaporation line and was the real thing. Hey to everyone else!!! Hope things are going good for everyone!

Name: Crystal | Date: June 2, 2005, 12:47
Answer: Oh and by the way Kelly where are you from? My email is crickle1084@yahoo.com if you want to email me sometime.

Name: Melissa | Date: June 2, 2005, 15:04
Answer: I am feeling some nausia today. Did any of you feel nausiated? If so when did it start for you?

Name: Kelly | Date: June 2, 2005, 17:51
Answer: Crystal, I am from Rock Hill,SC. So, you are not to far away from me. I feel like you--I am not going to my reg obgyn if the 100mg does not make me ovulate. I have scheduled an appt.w/an RE at Carolina's Medical Women's Institute in Charlotte. Of course I hope you or I either one have to go!! Maybe this will be our month. If you would like to email me as well I am at kcadkins@comporium.net.

Name: NIKKI SHAI | Date: June 3, 2005, 7:44
Answer: Melissa, I also have had the nausea (and still do). It started on day 19 for me.

Name: Melissa | Date: June 3, 2005, 9:44
Answer: Thanks Nikki. It's REALLY nice to hear I'm not the only one. Although I'm sorry you're feeling sickly also (unless it's because pg - then in that case good for you!). :-)

Name: stacey | Date: June 3, 2005, 14:41
Answer: Girls, I have a question....how did you get the dr, to give you Clomid? I havelong cycles- 36-46 days, and was just tested for PCOS- i'll find out the results next Friday. MY obgyn said IF I have it, he'll start me on clomid, but not sure he will if I don't have it. I had a m/c in Jan (got pregnant very quickly after I was off the pill- cycle was 30 days long). Just wondering if you guys asked for it, or they advised it. THANKS

Name: Melissa | Date: June 3, 2005, 16:14
Answer: Hi Stacey. I can tell when I o, and so we knew I wasn't. If I had been charting I don't think my dr would have made me wait so long. She just needed to be sure I wasn't o'ing. Good luck with your test results.

Name: Drew | Date: June 3, 2005, 16:19
Answer: Hi Gracie. Are you on Metformin aswell? I started out at 100mg Clomid, and I dont think it worked this month. Af is late AS USUAL!!! lol. I only have two more months on the Clomid then he wants me on Pergonal. What really is bugging me now is I dont know what day to start the next cycle of Clomid without af. Grrrrrrr! Lotsa luck ladies!

Name: Bree Stedman | Date: June 6, 2005, 3:22
Answer: FIRSTLY I HOPE EVERYONE GETS GOOD NEWS SOON AFTER BEING ON CHLOMID. I have been on it on & off for nearly a year - but still nothing. I just had a laparoscopy to clear up some endometriosis and this is the first cycle of being on chlomid since. I have a question - has anyone heard of this drug being related to cancer? Bree

Name: Melissa | Date: June 6, 2005, 10:46
Answer: Hi Bree. A lot of first reports said that clomid was linked to ovarian cancer. However, more research has been done and the cancer has actually been linked to INFERTILITY and not the clomid. Hope that makes you feel a little better.

Name: Melissa | Date: June 6, 2005, 10:47
Answer: Let me clear that up. It's linked to the certain causes of infertility (I don't remember what they were). It was not indicating that every woman who is infretile is going to get cancer.

Name: tina | Date: June 7, 2005, 21:32
Answer: to stacey on 6-3-05 If your doctor is making you wait for clomid, I would find a new doctor. I did not ask for it, but I told my doctor that I wanted to get pregnant as soon as possible and I wasn't ovulating. She took immediate steps. You have to remember that doctors deal with this everyday and sometimes they forget about the way people feel. So I would break it down for your doctor and if you don't get results, find a new doctor,

Name: Tiffanie | Date: June 13, 2005, 23:03
Answer: Hi everyone I just wanted to say that I have used clomid before and had luck with it. I took only one dose of it and got pregnant right away. So keep your hopes up it really works. My son is now 2 and we are trying again.

Name: Kristen | Date: June 15, 2005, 3:13
Answer: First time on board and clomid too. I hear that 7 days after you finish the first dose, you should ovulate. If that's the case then today I should hopefully ovulate. Wish me luck! I'll be hoping the same for you too!

Name: Erin | Date: June 15, 2005, 10:05
Answer: Hey guys, I have read all of your responses. My husband and I have no problems getting pregnant I just have a hard time carrying it. I have lost two (one at 7 weeks and one at 9 1/2 weeks). I am going to a new doctor on Monday and I am going to suggest Clomid. Someone told me that maybe it would help me carry the baby! Does anyone have a clue? I ovulate every month and have a normal period. Please help I am real worried!

Name: misty | Date: June 21, 2005, 0:45
Answer: hi,elizabeth. i am right behind you with support. this is my first time taking the pill and i started on day 3 of my cycle. my experience, well my husband states that i have been moody but i dont think so, thats just me!! i have had three miscarriages since 07/2003, my dr said i have no problem getting pg it is holding it, they stated that this pill will help. Name: Carolyn | Date: June 21, 2005, 15:26
Answer: Hello All! I also just finished my first round of chlomid day 5-9. Not the best side effects. I got hot flashes, cramps, bloating and very moody. My husband and I have been trying for almost a year but I also tried in my previous marriage for 5 years. I also had the HSG test, not fun at all. It looks as though my husband and I are okay, but I don't know why I can't get pregnant. I am really hoping this works. Has chlomid worked for anyone that you know of the first time. The doctor who did the HSG test said have fun for the next 2 months this is the best time to become pregnant by cleaning out the tubes. Interesting. Hope this all works out. And best wishes to you all.

Answer: I'm wondering if anyone can help me desperately? i am currently on metformin and have been for nearly 2 mnths i have an appt next month to go to doc and start on clomid if not pg this cycle. My question is i have been ovulating with met and have so far had 2 periods while being on it. I have seen alot of people say that it helps you ovulate but i am already so if my doc does prescribe them for me what exactly would happen does anyone know what they will do for me. I would really appreciate some feedback as i am soooo confused and i can't wait till i see my doc for an answer.

Name: Carolyn | Date: June 22, 2005, 15:09
Answer: Nadine, I am also ovulating. When I looked into it Chlomid releases more eggs. So there is a higher chance of pregnancy. We will see.

Name: Christine | Date: June 23, 2005, 7:20
Answer: Hi everyone. I am not on Chlomid but I've heard that it is a good way to increase your chances of getting pregnant. I am 38 and have been trying to get pregnant for the last 1 1/2 years and have been unsuccessful. My periods are extremely regular and the ovulation test kits indicate that I am ovulating. I also did blood tests on day 20 of my cycle about 6 months ago and they indicated that I did ovulate. I have one child who is 2 1/2 so I think my only problem is stress but I'm really scared that my time is running out and I want to get pregnant ASAP. Would I be a candidate for Chlomid? Is anyone's situation like mine?

Name: Nadine | Date: June 24, 2005, 5:48
Answer: Thanks Carolyn, Will you be taking clomid any time soon?

Name: nikki | Date: June 25, 2005, 20:17
Answer: hey everyone! me too on clomid this is my seconed month , last month my stupid ovulation kit never showed I ovulated, I was also going to try artificial insemination but since my kit never showed a positive peak I had to cancle my artificial apt ! man talk about fustrating. any way I also chart my temp and it showed I ovulated but not till day 21 ! wich is way off for me! iam normaly at day 12 or 13 so now my doctor started me on day 3 till 7 . I feel its better for me because my cycles are kinda short. any way first month I was a phyco {ask my husband !} and talk about hot flashes and no feelin for food. this month its diffrent ,not as crabby but I could eat a house!!! last month I had no cervicle fluid and I always have it! this month ,well today is day 6 for me and I already have some but iam still going to try robitussin just in case I cant make it for artificial . good luck to every one!!!!!!!!! ps. sorry about spelling and gramer I suck at writting!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer: I'm not sure if I"m the right candidate for clomid. How do I know?

Name: Brandy | Date: June 26, 2005, 19:21
Answer: I have been taking Clomid for 8 months..so 8 cycles, and I haven't had any luck with it so far. I was originally taking Clomid on CD 3-7 (for the first 6 mos), then the last two months I took it on CD 1-5...which is known to have a higher pregnancy rate, but is not recommended because of the possiblity of multiples; but my symptoms became worse. More specifically hot flashe, fatigue and the ability to cry at the drop of a hat. I have heard that stress can play a role in infertility...but I don't think you should have a problem. I got pregnant with my first five years ago and I was working at a very stressful workplace. (and I still got pregnant). Of course AFTER I got pregnant I quit. :) Good Luck to you. If you have any more questions please feel free to email me at brandy.legrand@gmail.com

Answer: Nadine, sorry just checked the board today. I have already taken Chlomid day 5 thru 9. And had the HSG test on day 6. My husband and I have been trying every other day starting day 11 once the side effects went away from Chlomid and test. I am now on day 20 still trying and hopefully it will work out the end of this month.

Answer: My doc put me on provera for 10 days and then gave me 50 mg clomid for days 2-6. I just went in on cd 21 and she said I did not ovulate. my number is only 12.9. I do not know where that falls on the scale. can anyone help. I am now supposed to start clomid 100 mg in about a week. I am starting to get frustrated. I got preg with my daughter my first month off birth control 2 yrs ago and then got preg last aug also my first month off birth control but miscarried at 5 wks. Has any one been in the same boat. I am getting to the point of not wanting to try anymore.

Name: LeAnn | Date: June 30, 2005, 23:24
Answer: Hi Elizabeth - I got pregnant while on the pill 1st time I got pregnant. This time after 2 years of trying doc put me on 50mg of clomid and also told me to do the ovulation test sticks - I did that and the stick told me I was ovulating on day 18 - I went and did my blood work and the nurse called me a few days later and asked if I'd missed a period and I was happy to say yes. Hang in there, hopefully, you won't have to wait too long.

Name: Diane | Date: July 1, 2005, 21:39
Answer: I am currently on my first month of 150mg Chlomid. My doctor told me I can try at this dosage for 4 cycles. Why do doctors restrict usage for 3 or 4 cycles? Why the limit? Are there long term side effects? Thanks - and GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! HANG IN THERE!

Name: Kelly | Date: July 1, 2005, 22:29
Answer: Hello Diane, I just went to OB today and asked the same question as yours. My doc. said that statistically speaking, once the correct dose of clomid is given (you ovulate) then you should be pregnant w/in 3 cycles. After that the chances of conceiving do not increase that much. Say up to six months. After 4-6 mths of trying on clomid w/ an ovulatory cycle and no pregnancy has occured, then you will usually be referred to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). Hope this helps and best of luck!! Not sure about any long term side effects :)

Name: Drew | Date: July 2, 2005, 15:21
Answer: Diane, they restirict the cycles of Clomid cause there is a risk of ovarian cysts. As for long term effects they used to think it increased your chances of uterine cancer but have now found that not to be true. Hope this helps!!

Name: Meg | Date: July 21, 2005, 21:11

Answer: I just finished my first round of chlomid yesterday (I took it day 5-9) - do I use an OPK today?

Name: mother2Bsoon | Date: April 20, 2007, 14:27
Answer: hi there! you should start testing with OPKs on cd12. Good luck! I took clomid 50 MG cd5-9. The second cycle with preseed and lots of prayer I got my BFP! I am around 7 weeks. Wishing you all the best and many baby blessings!!!

Name: Apalonia | Date: April 20, 2007, 17:09
Answer: Hey, What' s OPK? I'm on clomid too. I've tried IUI 2x and was unsuccessful and I just thought I'd slow down and try this. I took it from day 3 - 8. Now what???

Name: mother2Bsoon | Date: April 20, 2007, 19:27
Answer: OPK is ovulation prediction kit. I used clear blue easy. You should start testing at least three days after the last pill. Usually you get your surge around six days after the last pill. I hope this helps and good luck!

Answer: Hi! This is my first time too on a board and I am on day 10. I took Chlomid 5-9. After the provera I had spotting etc so I am a little nervous that my cycle days arent correct at this point. I have been sick to my stomach and thirsty as well and feel really bloated!! I am also really emotional today! I am a little scared that maybe I didnt take the chlomid at the right time but doctor didnt seem to question it. Do you know how soon after stopping the chlomid ovulation typically begins? I have never charted my ovulation so I am not sure how to do this. What does cd mean? Thank you and I look forward to hearing your stories! Blessings!

Name: LILNDN | Date: November 15, 2007, 18:49
Answer: HI!...I stopped having my cycle after trying to conceieve for about a year. Went to an ob/gyn to see what the prob was, he said i was not ovulating so was put on progesterone to start my cycle that first month...started, then was started on clomid soon after...I just took my 2nd round of clomid. I too felt a lil sick to my stomach, very thirsty (I dont drink water like I should but have been craving it!) I have also felt some dizziness an very tender breasts....when I started they said my numbers were 0.4 an that I needed at least a 4.0 to get preg. I took the 1st round days 5-9 an went for blood work an found that I did ovulate an my numbers were 17 (not sure how good that is?)an so they kept me on 50mg days 5-9...I'm new to this site, but I think cd means clomid day?...not sure....also, on my 2nd round I started my cycle on my own without the progesterone....I heard that you shouldnt take clomid for more than 6 rounds....How true is this an why is that?...Should I look into seeing a fert. spec. if I dont conceieve within 6 months?

Answer: This is my first time on one of these boards as well. I haven't yet taken chlomid but am supposed to start this month. I was previously on progesterone to get me regular again. I have PCOS and had my period constantly and hadn't ovulated in I don't know how long. I have now been regular for four months and now will be starting chlomid. I am not very familiar with it so I was looking for a little insight on the side effects and how well it actually works. I also take metformin for my PCOS and didn't know if anyone was familiar with taking that as well. I've just been getting so discouraged with the whole baby thing and am starting to feel like it will never happen. Anyone have any positive news ; )

Answer: Hi Ladies, This is my first time on this board, and I'm so glad I found you! My DH and I have been married for 11 years (both 37), and have been TTC for a few years now. My RE is starting us on Chlomid during my next cycle ("should" start around 1/5). I'll be taking 2 per day at 50 mg. each on CDs 3-7. Then, on CD 10, 11 or 12 I'm supposed to schedule an ultrasound so they can tell me the best time for my husband to administer Ovidrel (trigger shot to release eggs). The first cycle we'll be doing timed intercourse, but the subsequent two cycles (if needed) will be with IUI performed 36 to 40 hours after the Ovidrel injection. Hopefully, my husband's little guys will make it to the finish line and no IUI will be needed. My RE will only do up to 3 cycles on Chlomid. After that, the big guns come out. My questions for you are many. What are the side effects I should expect? Have any of you hyper-stimmed? Should I use Pre-Seed right off the bat? Any advice, support or encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.

Answer: Hi ladies. I am on my first round of Clomid 50mg, cds 3-7. I am going insane waiting to get that BFP. Today is cd 26 for me and so far nothing. I did some gardening today, and got light- headed half-way into it. I also was light-headed the last two days that I did my morning walk. My bbs are not sore, no nausea, no hunger bursts - only the light-headedness out of blue..and when I try to sip on a glass of wine. Any advice? Merry Chistmas and good luck to all of you.

Answer: my sister was lightheaded when she would sit at her computer and she had cramps and cramps and had convinced herself she had a tumor. well she asked my mom and she just said "you're pregnant. go test." and dang if my mom wasn't right lol. i'd say wait for the time when your period should start (whatever your cycles were before the clomid) and pee on a stick! oh and did you ovulate? what did your day21 bloodwork say?

Name: whitekitty0329 | Date: December 23, 2007, 13:05
Answer: My last cycle was not regular-2 periods in the same month! I am expecting af any day now, but have no symptoms that it is coming. I have been peeing on a stick every day for the last few days. I am using dollar store hpts. I am not sure when I ovulated or if I ovulated but . I had cramps and tugging on the left side around cd18, had hcg trigger shot on 12/10. Can you ovulate over a week later after a HCG shot? I did not have bloodwork on cd21

Answer: Ladies. I saw my Dr. on saturday. She suggested I start Clomid in Feb. I now my period are due for 31/01 or 01 feb. I guess I will see her on 4th feb. I will soon start with clomid. I not familiar with this. Reading through all mesages I am not sure if taking 3 rounds will be a good idea but my Dr. mentioned 3 rounds. Any insight info before I start it.

Answer: whitekitty: i believe the trigger shots make you ovulate within 36 hours of it. not quite sure though. that's what i've heard. early40: most doctors usually put women on clomid for 6 months before taking a break so 3 months will be fine. just make sure they do the bloodwork to make sure it's working before upping the dosage.

Answer: Hello ladies...just wondering if you could help? I am on my first cycle of clomid (50mg), and have taken 2 doses so far. Today, I have ovulation pains, both sides, and some brown tinged discharge.....(sorry, tmi) I am currently cd7, and definately NOT pg - it's too early for o.....are these symptoms normal do you think?

Name: sarah35 | Date: January 9, 2008, 16:40
Answer: MAZ*** Midcyle spotting is totally normal is a good sign that ovulation is impending. Its the estrogen dropping off.... and there isnt enough preogersterone to sustain it. I currently have it too! I am cd9 took my clomid 2-6.... so i think im going to ovulate on friday or saturday.... BTW, i got this information from "Taking Charge of Your Fertility".... has lots of good info for ladies looking to learn about "signs" our bodies give us to tell is what is/isnt happening. ******baby dust 2 u*********

Answer: Mazlouise, I'm on my second dose of clomid 100mg. When I first starting taking it I had the same side effects as you did. You can ovulate at anytime. I doesn't have to be 5-12 days after you start taking it. It's whenever your body decides to ovulate. I found that the pain got really bad then faded so I figured that I had ovulated. My doc said I did ovulate, for the first time Yeah!!! but my eggs were not good for pregnancy. Keep your hopes up it'll get better. I have no pain this month, so i'm thinking I didn't ovulate, or is my body just used to the hormones??? I don't know, good luck

Answer: Hello all! I think I just need some encouragement. I took my first round of chlomid at the beginning of Jan and had my blood work yesterday. It came back that I wasn't ovulating. I have to increase the dose with my next cycle. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal?

Answer: Hi again!! Great baby news...we are 7 weeks pregnant!!! My last period was on Dec 20th. I took clomid the 24th thru the 28th (days 5-9). I started taking OPKs about day 12 or 13. Got a positive result on my last test which was on Jan 4th. I went in for blood work on cd 21 and my progesterone was at 26 which I was told was really good. Found out on Jan 16th that I was a month pregnant!! I also have PCOS so I was even more discouraged about being able to get pregnant, but here I am. Keep up hope ladies. I did really well on the clomid as well. A few hot flashes at night and a little moodiness but that was it. When I found out I was pregnant I actually thought I was getting ready to start my period. I had the cramps and all. So far so good. Go to the doc for my first appt on the 12th. Hopefully all is well and stays that way! Good luck and stay positive. Baby dust to all!!!

Answer: Niki, Congratulations! I am starting Clomid this month and have been very discouraged until I read your "blog". Did you have any negative reactions or side effects?

Name: Niki M | Date: February 11, 2008, 2:02
Answer: andrea o - didn't really have any side effects from the clomid. i was terrified at first b/c i had read about horrible side effects and how miserable it can make you. i noticed a night or two i had some hot flashes but it was never that bad. my husband said i was a little moodier but he's still hanging around so it must not have been too horrible ; ) besides that though i had no issues. so i was either really lucky or it's just not as bad as everyone says. good luck to you though!!! let me know if it works for you!

Answer: Hello. I just joined this board too. I am on my third round of chlomid. I took it one other time, and we got pregnant that month. I have endometriosis. I have had hot flashes and weird dreams. I have also been very emotional. Sometimes when we read our daughter her bedtime stories, I end up crying. She just looks at me and wipes my tears. We tried for almost two years before we got pregnant with our first. We have been trying for almost a year now for our second. We are hoping it happens. Hang in there. I know it's not easy. It will happen.

Answer: I am taking my last Clomid pill today, Day 7. This is my first round. I know stress can play a part...get weekly massages or something right for you that will help you lower the stress. I have been doing accupuncture as well. Also, my doctor highly recommended IUI. She said that Clomid makes the cervical mucus thicken which can make it harder for the sperm to find the egg. So she suggested IUI either once or twice! I am surprised that not many women have mentioned that. Has anyone else been told this by the doc?

Answer: hi huktress, I normally don't post but I had to reply to your post. You have been taking chlomid for 18months? I thought that is too long to take chlomid as it has a risk of ovarian cancer b/c you are producing more eggs due to the medicine and that process increases the chances of ovarian cancer. Since you have faced two miscarriages, I think you should try medicine, Metformin. It is commonly recommended for PCOS patients. And please change your doctor and go to a Reproductive Endochronologist. It seems to me that your doctor is not treating you correctly. Good Luck. Sorry about the miscarriages. It was sad to hear.

Answer: Hi I'm new to most of this I do have one daughter is who is 5 I had her when I was 22 I don't remember it being difficult to become pregnant then, then again I wasn't trying to concieve. My doctor gave me a rx for clomid I chose the generic form clomiphene citrate its 50 mg, I have actually had it filled for about 3 months yet and havent takin it. I want to start taking it my next cylcle which should be around the 25-27 of this month. For the last couple days I have been taking a multivitamin (centrum), folic acid 800mcg, fish oil omega 3 1000 mg, b-12 500 mcg. My husband has been taking the mulit-vit, folic acid, fish oil, and B12 as well. All of the things were mentioned above on the internet to prepare my body. My doctor recommended to start the clomid on days 5-9 funny thing is he is a new OB of mine and does not speak to well of english or I just can't understand him well. He didn't run any test I told him we wanted to have another child and he pulled out the rx pad. I didn't even know what clomid was until I came home and googled it that evening and I was a bit floored that he prescribed it to me without knowing much history. Anyways we have been having unprotected intercourse for the past 8 months with no results so maybe we do need it. Basically I'm on here for two reason first one for support from people doing the same as I, and adivice on clomid and its results. so I have a few questions that I would like to ask. First one is what days have better results? I've seen several and don't know why my doc said 5-9 without knowing much history or even my cylcle length. Is there anything else we can do to increase the result of clomid like robitussin, baby asprin, lubricants, sexual postions and any other things ya'll might know. All these vitamins we are taking is that really linked to concieving or is it pointless. Also husbands father is a twin would that affect us? also I am a diet pepsi junkie started trying to drink more water but still crave my diet soda and drink anywhere from 3-6 a day will this affect anything? What time of the day is it best to take the clomid or anything else you reccomend I take? I think that is it for now and would have asked the doc all this but as I said couldn't really understand him. Currently I'm looking for a new Ob.Thanks ladies and good luck to you all. I guess learning the lingo here will help me to shorten my post how many days after taking clomid do you ususally ovulate, I have a regular cycle its been the same for a couple years I get my period around the 25th I wrote this on another thread but I think this one more relates to my question

Name: akk | Date: March 27, 2008, 13:24
Answer: We tried for 2 years and my 1st month on clomid i got pregnant. I thought for sure I wouldn't because there is A LOT of pressure emotionally and also when and how often you should have sex once you do ovulate. We weren't able to follow the doc's orders exactly, but it still worked. Now my baby boy is 8 months old and i am getting ready to call the doc and get back on clomid. I was really emotional that entire month, which could have been a side effect or could have been just me, and I was really crampy too.

Name: andrea o | Date: March 31, 2008, 14:57
Answer: Hi! This was my first month on Clomid, I did not have many effects from the drug, maybe a little moodiness, nothing bad. I had a follicle count today, and everything is looking good, we are scheduling an IUI in a few days. I have not heard many people talk about doing an IUI with the Clomid?? I did have to go on the pill last month to take care of a few cysts on my ovaries, which caused a lot of lower abdominal discomfort, so I possibly missed the from the Clomid, thinking it was still from the cysts. And I do see a lot of people started on 50 mg of Clomid, I was put on 100mg right away. Good luck to everyone trying to conceive, please let me know if you are looking at or have done IUI;)

Answer: Hello all :] I am also trying to conceive. I stopped having my cycle in January this year, so I went to the Dr and they found that I had PCOS & I was terrified. They put me on provera to start my cycle and I got it on March 28th. So then they scheduled me for a blood draw on the April 18th to see if I ovulated, if not they plan to put me on Clomid. However just yesterday my Dr called me and suggested I take a rx that is actually for insulin resistance but apparently it also makes women very fertile. I dont have a problem with insulin but they know how anxious we are to get pregnant, so they said it cant harm me and to give it a try if I want to. So I am. Has anyone else heard of doing this??? Well anyhoo, I asked if they still intended to put me on the Clomid after my blood draw on the 18th, they said yes and that the 2 drugs together would not harm me. I have become pregnant before but miscarried in my second month, so I know I can get pregnant. I just have this sense of impending doom as though it will never happen for me. Finding this board helps relieve a little bit of the worry, but I'm still so unsure. -Worried In Ohio-

Answer: Hi! This is my first time on Chlomid also! I am on day 14 and took it days 5-9 of my cycle also, I too have noticed a loss of apetite and dry mouth. There is a lot of pressure when you're trying to conceive and I think that is my problem, everyone has told me don't think about it, don't stress about it and let it happen when it happens.... easier said that done! It's nice to hear from people hat are going through the same things, I've heard good and bad things about chlomid! Let's just keep thinking postitive! Stay optomistic!

Answer: Hi. Im new here. 4 years ago- I concieved and had my beautiful baby boy, Caiden. After his father and i had him, we ended up getting married 2 1/2 years ago. Sounds like a great fairy-tale ending, for some. Trouble started when we are now trying to concieve #2 on purpose. After a year of trying, and no period since june, i found out I have PCO, and they are putting me on clomid, and i think its called hcg shots, that my husband has to administer, and im now on prenatal vitamins too. I am a little worried, about everything. They are testing my husband this week, and Im just scared that all 3 rounds of clomid wont take, or have really bad effects on me. Im excited that I can get pregnant- but i have a history of family with issues during pregnancy, before and after. turns out the infertilty dr, Im now seeing is the same one that saved my sisters life with an eptopic pregnancy, and helped her concieve many years back. Im so scared, and nervous. any suggestions how to clear and ease my mind, and is there anything i need to know about clomid, because my mom told me to be careful on it?? Thank you in Advance. ~Stephanie~
